‘C’mon!’ Lemon irked when Cuomo won’t concede Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema are really Republicans

The progressive fury against Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) continues over their resistance to massive spending bills, this time drawing the ire from famously irate CNN host Don Lemon.

The latest broadside from Lemon against the two senators accuses them of actually being Republicans, one of the worst epithets one can receive on CNN. Lemon went off while doing the normal hand-off from fellow CNN host Chris Cuomo. Cuomo had been talking about vaccine hesitancy within the NBA, and commented that Democrats are “making their own problems.”

This set off Lemon, who used the opportunity to derail the conversation towards an issue he was clearly upset about:

“You also have two Republicans in the Democratic party who are making problems for the Democrats, and that’s Manchin and Sinema.”

Cuomo wasn’t jumping in, though, and simply stated “That’s your opinion.”

Yet Lemon pressed the point: “I mean, they are Republicans, come on!”

Once again, Cuomo demurred, calmly stating “that’s your opinion. They’re both Democrats.”

Lemon, however, characteristically insisted that “It’s not an opinion. Just look at the way they vote.”

“They are both Democrats. There’s a D after their name. That’s the fact,” Cuomo replied.

Lemon stubbornly persisted, however, saying “I see them as Republicans.”

While Lemon may be just the latest expression of anger at the perceived apostasy of the two senators, he is hardly alone. On Wednesday Senator Dick Durban (D-IL), the Senate Majority Whip, went on CNN to issue a rare direct rebuke in public towards the two senators, who are seen as absolutely pivotal in the fight over the $3.5 trillion omnibus bill, reported Mediate:

“I think we’ve shown a lot of respect to our colleagues who obviously have a different point of view when it comes to reconciliation. There’s been meaningful negotiation that’s gone on for weeks. The president has been involved personally. I’ve never seen a president engage this way since Barack Obama’s days with the Affordable Care Act. So, we’re all in, all aboard. Now it’s time, I would say, for both senators, make your mark and close the deal. What is it that you want? What is your final goal? It’s time to stop talking around it and speak directly to it.”

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes has also gone into hysterics over the two senators, launching an all-caps tirade on Twitter:

The progressive “squad” in the House of Representatives has also gone to Twitter to rant against Manchin in particular:

As the bill drags on, hopes for its passing grow dimmer, as the Democrats in Congress struggle with potentially losing the initiative and chance to push forward what is supposed to be President Joe Biden’s centerpiece legislation for his presidency.
