Lindsey Graham hopes Trump runs again, says ‘there’s magic there’ but he must ‘turn it down a notch’

During a speech to GOP activists, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) revealed that he hopes “magic man” Donald Trump tries to win back his former job in 2024.

“I don’t think Trump is listening. He might be,” Graham — who is sometimes RINO and sometimes MAGA — told the Michigan GOP leadership conference last night to the sound of applause, as reported by the Detroit News. “I hope President Trump runs again.”

“Now I believe there’s magic there,” Graham said about his then-2016 presidential rival.”(He’s) got to turn it down a notch. But there’s magic there.”

As he has said before, Graham, who is very adept at soundbites whether people like him or not, described Trump as “a handful”

He also related a humorous anecdote about playing golf with the ex-POTUS.

“People ask me, ‘What happened with you and Trump? I say we found common ground,” the senator said. “I’ve come to like him and he likes him…That gets us through 18 holes. The first nine, I’ll tell him why I like him. The back nine is why he likes him.”

In July, Graham told Judge Jeanine Pirro on Fox News that he would be “shocked” if Trump didn’t run in 2024 against the backdrop of Joe Biden’s failed, America-last policies. He also asserted that Trump would lead the GOP to victory in the 2022 congressional elections.

The ex-president is already appearing at campaign-style rallies such as the one on Saturday night in Georgia.

Trump may or may not still have common ground after a claim in Bob Woodward’s new book, which anyone might take with a grain of salt, that Graham and colleague Mike Lee (R-Utah) were supposedly unpersuaded by allegations of fraud in Election 2020.

Last week, President Trump published a statement which raises doubt, however, about any further golf invitations:

I spent virtually no time with Senators Mike Lee of Utah, or Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, talking about the 2020 Presidential Election Scam or, as it is viewed by many, the “Crime of the Century.” Lindsey and Mike should be ashamed of themselves for not putting up the fight necessary to win. Look at the facts that are coming out in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and other States…

Mike Lee, Lindsey Graham, and all of the other Republicans who were unwilling to fight for the Presidency of the United States, which would have included at least an additional four Republican Senators, two in Georgia, one in Michigan, one in Arizona, are letting the Democrats get away with the greatest Election Hoax in history—a total con job!…RINOs fight harder against Republicans than they do against Democrats…Your Republican Presidential candidate won in a landslide, but has so little backing from Republican “leadership.” They should be ashamed of themselves…

The corporate media has taken the position that no “widespread” fraud occurred in Election 2020, and generally frowns upon any further discussion of same. Congress certified Joe Biden as president amidst questions about a flurry of mail-in ballots without chain-of-custody measures or signature verification in certain key battleground states. Neither Graham nor Lee supported a challenge to the Electoral College results.

Trump, according to Sen. Graham, is “one of the most consequential presidents in American history…Graham credited Trump with bringing ‘order’ to the southern border, cutting taxes and appointing conservative judges. The development of the COVID-19 vaccine was ‘the most significant medical accomplishment, maybe in the history of the country,'” the Detroit News added.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson has ripped Graham, who some might say is practically a co-host on Sean Hannity’s show on the same network, for backing the war in Afghanistan unconditionally for two decades and for supporting Biden’s radical left judicial nominees. As far as the latter issue is concerned, Graham has said in the past that he votes for jurists even if they don’t share his conservative legal philosophy if they are qualified.
