Dan Bongino, former Secret Service agent turned conservative political commentator, had some sharp words about the situation on the southern border.
Speaking on his Fox News program, “Unfiltered,” on Saturday, Bongino ripped into the “disgraceful” Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis, and Democrats in general, saying “The big lie is that we actually have a southern border.”
Bongino went on to accuse the White House of lying to save its own skin, and turning to shameful scapegoat tactics against its own Border Patrol:
“The disgraceful Biden administration is trying to cover up its big lie about the border, and now they’ve resorted to a new low, yes, attacking the good guys, the border patrol. … The big lie is that we actually have a southern border. We don’t. There’s no border. There is no border. Got me? There is no border. The border is completely open.”
Bongino also accused senior officials within the administration of being clueless about the real numbers involved in the situation, backing up his assertion with video clips.
“The reason they can’t give you the numbers, DHS Secretary Mayorkas and [White House press secretary] Jen Psaki. The reason they can’t give you the numbers is because they don’t know,” he said. “They have no idea. They have no idea how many people have walked into the country illegally and are now in the United States of America. Throw a dart at a wall and just pick a number on an index card. You’ll get a better estimate. They have no idea, and that’s the problem.”
The tirade didn’t end there, as Bongino continued to excoriate administration officials he felt didn’t seem to understand the basic concept and purpose behind a national border on a fundamental level:
“How does a sovereign country with borders not know who’s in the country? Am I crazy? Isn’t that the purpose of a border? A border where you stop someone and say ‘This is our country. Are you a citizen? Therefore go in. Do you have business here? Do you have a green card? Are you allowed to be here?’ That’s why we have a border. Is this a news flash to liberals?”
The ongoing border crisis has been a lightning rod for criticism. Republicans in particular have lambasted the administration for its total lack of “leadership,” with “border czar” Vice President Kamela Harris visibly absent while the situation continues to worsen. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) even accused President Joe Biden of deliberately manufacturing the crisis, saying that Biden could “end this tomorrow” if he actually cared to.
Others have noticed the total absence of the usual pious hand-wringing and tearful photo ops in a parking lot by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and the crowd usually bemoaning immigrant conditions – but only under a Republican administration. Still others have taken to calling the pileup of corpses from various causes along the border “Biden bodies.”
Nobody knows what the future will bring, but its unlikely that any kind of real solution or even an attempt by the administration to meaningfully address the crisis is in the cards.
