Chuck Todd branded a Republican plant; reporter calls Biden screwups ‘uncontrollable events’

Associated Press reporter Jonathan Lemire was roundly mocked over a tweet that called President Biden’s missteps “uncontrollable events” and “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd was ridiculously labeled a Republican plant.

“The Pentagon admitted its errant drone strike. COVID boosters did not get full approval. France recalled its ambassador. The punishing headlines, all within an hour, underscored the perils for a president from uncontrollable events that can define a term,” Lemire, who is also a political analyst for MSNBC, tweeted.

Critics seized on the tweet with one declaring that everything “went south” because Biden was a “failure,” not because he lacked control. Another quipped that they would head to the beach too, considering Biden’s catastrophic week. That was in reference to Biden hightailing it to his beach house in Delaware just hours before the Pentagon announced they had goofed and killed an innocent family of ten, including seven children, instead of an ISIS-K terrorist as they initially claimed.

“Oh, if only the president could control such an unpredictable thing as a drone strike? It’s not as if he’s commander-in-chief,” snarked The Independent’s Eric Michael Garcia

Biden faced a plethora of crises of his own making last week that included the killing of an Afghanistan family via hellfire missile and an FDA panel voting not to recommend coronavirus vaccine booster shots to vaccinated people over the age of 16, forcing Biden to break a long-held promise. France also recalled its ambassador to the U.S. after being cut out of a nuclear submarine deal between the U.S., U.K., and Australia. The border catastrophe also continues to get more out of hand by the day making Biden look increasingly incompetent.

And while the media made excuses for Biden, MSNBC’s “Daily Show” attacked NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd, trying to brand him as a Republican plant. Todd has worked on Democratic campaigns previously although his actual party affiliation is not clear.

Todd was trending on Twitter as “Daily Show” senior digital producer Matt Negrin went on a tirade about how Todd favors Republicans and is far too friendly with them.

Negrin tweeted, “DEMOCRATS BANNED: @chucktodd once again invited only Republicans onto @MeetThePress Chuck Todd booked Bill Cassidy to push GOP talking points and refused to have a single Democrat on to balance him Since Jan. 6 Todd has booked the following Republicans on shows with 0 Democrats.”

One commenter reacted to the unrealness of the whole accusation, saying, “LOL there are actually people who think Chuck Todd is a Republican plant. Literally cannot make this stuff up.”

Negrin continued his attack on Todd, “This is how right-wing propaganda works in plain sight: This week @chucktodd admitted that he prefers Republican newsletters. Then on his top-rated Sunday show he invites a senator who pushed the Big Lie, identifies a GOP operative as an ‘analyst,’ and blames Biden for covid.”

He added, “Meet the Press presents only GOP viewpoints because it’s hosted by a centrist Republican who despises liberals and wants to use his influential platform to let his Republican friends brainwash your family into thinking the GOP is good. He refuses to give Democrats a fair rebuttal.”

And he went on and on and on.

Then came the kicker.

Jeff Shell is the CEO of NBCUniversal. He was named by former President Obama as chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors replacing Sony Pictures executive Michael Lynton.

Shell’s political preferences aren’t really known but it is highly doubtful he is a conservative. And it is ludicrous to claim that NBC is a “Republican-run media outlet.” But the host of MSNBC’s HARDBALL seems to be plugging for ratings and not really looking into exactly who runs NBC these days.

He ended his screed with, “Chuck Todd has become Fox News and @NBCNewsPR loves it.”
