‘Redistribution of wealth’: McCarthy say Dems’ spending bills equal money US spent ‘to win WWII’

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) blasted the two massive spending bills currently making their way through Congress calling them “the amount of money we spent to win World War II,” in an interview Sunday.

McCarthy told host John Catsmatidis on WABC 770 AM that the Democrats are, “just adding into our debt as we’re going along,” arguing that the spending packages would, “create greater inflation.”

“It’s redistribution of wealth, it will take money out of the economy, make America less competitive, especially for our competition around the world,” he said. “It’s a real concern.”

The bills include the $1 trillion infrastructure bill that has already passed the Senate after 19 Republicans joined with Democrats to avoid the filibuster. The House is expected to vote on the bill later this month although progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have indicated they would prevent it from passing if the Senate doesn’t pass the other enormous $3.5 trillion spending bill through the budget reconciliation process.

Former President Donald Trump has also criticized the 2,700-page $1 trillion bill in a statement, calling the bill a “disgrace,” and is unlikely to endorse any Republican who votes for the bill.

“Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill is a disgrace. If Mitch McConnell was smart, which we’ve seen no evidence of, he would use the debt ceiling card to negotiate a good infrastructure package,” Trump wrote.

McCarthy’s criticism also referenced the $3.5 trillion spending bill which has received backlash for a measure hidden in the bill that would allow the Internal Revenue Service to ostensibly spy on every single bank account in America.

Combined McCarthy said the two bills amount to “spending more than $5 trillion, that’s the amount of money we spent to win World War II.”

According to a study by USA Today, the amount spent on the over three-year war was similar to combined mammoth spending bills. Adjusted to 2019 dollars, they reported that World War II cost $4.69 trillion.

McCarthy argued that these leftist policies are dragging America back in time, preventing the country from moving forward as citizens are steamrolled by inflation and higher prices.

“Every time we warned ahead of time of these Democratic policies, you know, President Biden said he’s going to bring American back, but I didn’t realize he wanted to take us back to the 70s,” the congressman continued.

“Americans are held hostage in the Middle East, where we have inflation, gas prices are high and they’re begging OPEC to produce more while not allowing America to become energy independent,” he said.

“We need a check and balance, we need to have some accountability and some control, that’s why we’re only five seats away from winning Congress back out of control and firing Nancy Pelosi once and for all,” McCarthy concluded.
