‘Cut him off now!’ Newsmax’s Stinchfield snaps: ‘You’re not gonna blame this on President Trump on my show!’

Newsmax TV host Grant Stinchfield blew up at a guest during his show on Wednesday over criticism that “multiple administrations” including that of President Donald Trump failed to pull out of Afghanistan.

Stinchfield was interviewing Joe Saboe, a former U.S. Army officer and Iraq War veteran who has been working via the private sector to evacuate Americans and Afghan allies, when the two had a disagreement about the previous administration’s role in the southwest Asian country.

As the segment was about to end, the two exchanged views over whether the people left behind by the Biden administration amid a chaotic, deadly pullout were now in a “hostage situation,” a position Stinchfield supported given that the Taliban have reportedly been going door to door in Kabul and other cities looking for former U.S. collaborators.

The host then moved to absolve the Trump administration of responsibility for what ultimately happened under Biden.

“I think you and I can both agree this never needed to happen,” the host said in regards to the way in which the pullout occurred under Biden, which included the loss of 13 U.S. service members to a suicide bombing just days before the last American transport went wheels-up on the Aug. 31 deadline.

“If the government knew what it was doing, we wouldn’t have Americans in this situation,” he added.

Saboe said he agreed, adding that he believes “multiple administrations leading up to this had multiple opportunities to try to set this up for success, and I think…that’s not happened. And right now we as a country need to come together and support…”

“I can tell you Joe…I can tell you, this didn’t happen under President Trump,” Stinchfield interjected. “And I know there’s a lot of people on the left that want to try to blame President Trump. He wanted out of Afghanistan real bad. He was real frustrated, not being able to get out, but he didn’t pull out because he knew this would happen. In fact, we all did.

“I called it on this program. My twelve-year-old son knew about it, and so we’ve got Americans there that are stuck,” he continued. “To me, that’s a hostage situation.”

Stinchfield went on to try and close out the segment by thanking the former infantry officer for what he was doing in attempting to help more people, as Saboe then interjected himself, saying that “with due respect, with veterans, I being one, right, and our friends that are over there, we followed this closely from multiple administrations.

“We know that Trump’s administration’s efforts here were fairly weak, that they were trying to limit the number of people that would get out, and so there was coordination problems…” he added before Stinchfield moved to abruptly end the interview.

As crosstalk continued and the host explained he was “already low on time,” he then raised his voice and demanded, “Cut him off, please! Cut him off now! Cut him off now!”

“You’re not gonna blame this on President Trump on my show!” Stinchfield said. “That’s not happening. Now, I appreciate the work that you’re doing. God bless you for being a veteran. God bless you for trying to get Americans out. But don’t come on this program and take the talking points of the left and blame President Trump. That’s not helping anybody.”

The host went on to point out that “the Biden administration screwed this up from the very start,” adding that “to call them not hostages — I don’t know how you don’t call them hostages! They’re stuck in Afghanistan with a country overrun with terrorists that are willing to kill them all.”

“I’m mad about that, man, I really am,” he added.
