Former President Trump contends that the Sept. 18 rally planned for the U.S. Capitol in support of Jan. 6 protesters who are still sitting in jail awaiting charges is a “setup” and he’s also calling on Senate Republicans to ditch Mitch McConnell.
In an interview with The Federalist, Trump warned against the Sept. 18 rally that is planned for the U.S. Capitol. He called it a “setup” that is intended to disparage Republican voters no matter what happens. Many also believe that if anything violent happens it could be used as a further excuse for the left to clamp down on all Americans and take even more liberties away in the name of security.
“On Saturday, that’s a setup,” Trump bluntly stated. “If people don’t show up they’ll say, ‘Oh, it’s a lack of spirit.’ And if people do show up they’ll be harassed.”
Almost no one in conservative circles has even heard of the rally. It has not been widely promoted. Despite that fact, Democrats are having new fencing installed on Capitol Hill. Additionally, the Capitol Police have issued an emergency declaration that will allow the deputizaton of outside law enforcement as “special” Capitol Police officers during the demonstration.

Matt Braynard, the organizer behind the “Justice for J6” rally and a former Trump campaign staffer, is also asking that attendees not wear pro-Trump clothing at the event.
He urged in a tweet on Tuesday for people not to display any symbols that are supportive of former President Trump or President Biden, contending the protest is “100% about #JusticeforJ6 and not the election or any candidate.”
“We request that anybody attending our events not wear any clothing or have signs supportive of either President Trump or Biden,” Braynard tweeted.
“Anyone not honoring this request will be assumed to be an infiltrator and we will take your picture, find out who you are, and make you famous,” he threatened.

A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official is predicting that approximately 700 people will show up to attend the demonstration according to The Hill.
Trump went on to eviscerate President Biden in the interview over his “grossly incompetent” handling of the bloody Afghanistan debacle. He torched leftist Democrats and labeled former President George W. Bush as “one of the worst presidents ever.”
“Afghanistan is one of the worst things I think I’ve ever seen for our country,” Trump declared. “To lose the young people [killed in the bomb blast] is so horrible. It’s a horrible situation.”
“What Biden is doing is grossly incompetent,” he asserted. “It’s a disgrace.”
At that point during the interview, he turned to Bush who took a swipe at Trump and his supporters during his remarks on the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Bush said they were “children of the same foul spirit” that led the 9/11 hijackers to kill almost three thousand Americans.

“Bush was a disaster getting us into the Middle East. He’s the one that got us into the quicksand of the Middle East, and he didn’t win. He didn’t know how to win. I think he goes down as one of the worst presidents in history,” Trump hit back.
“Bush now goes around lecturing everybody about all sorts of things, and he shouldn’t be lecturing anybody because he’s the one who got us into the mess of the Middle East,” Trump added. “In the 20 years since it’s been obliterated, and it’s probably in worse shape now than it’s ever been because of him.”
“When Bush left the presidency, his approval rating was in the low-20s,” Trump said. “I don’t know how he was that high. There must’ve been something wrong with the poll.”
Then it was McConnell’s turn for a taste of Trump’s wrath. The former president wants to see the GOP ditch Mitch.
“I think Mitch McConnell has proven to be a disaster,” Trump remarked. “He’s not good for the Republican Party as a leader, and I wish I wouldn’t have endorsed him.”
“The Senate has to make a change at some point,” he warned. “I don’t think it’s acceptable having him as a leader.”
“The Democrats have become radicalized, and the Republicans don’t have good leadership because they don’t fight as hard,” the former president commented. “The Republicans, the leadership, should have fought harder for the presidential election.”
“Democrats have horrible policy, they’re vicious, but they stay together,” he noted.
“There’s a discontent with everything having to do with politics,” Trump posited concerning American politics. “People are so disgusted with the way people are being treated from the Jan. 6 situation. It’s a combination of that compared to how Antifa and BLM were treated. When you compare the treatment, it is so unjust, it is so unfair. It’s disgraceful.”
