CNN host Chris Cuomo told host Don Lemon that getting the jab was not a matter of “personal choice” and that Americans are not who they were 20 years ago because they won’t collectively submit to getting vaccinated.

On Friday, after Lemon talked about missing the visage of the Twin Towers in the New York City skyline after they fell on 9/11, Cuomo stated, “I have always felt that’s what ‘never forget’ really is a reminder about. Not what happened. Obviously, we know what happened, but how we were 9/12, 9/13, 9/14. It wasn’t perfect. We made mistakes. It didn’t last forever. But we put things aside and came together in common cause with a collective will.”

“You contrast that with where we are today. I’m telling you, this vaccine hesitancy, sure there’s a little bit of a personal freedom thing, people don’t want to be told what to do. Somebody made people think that the vaccine is a personal choice issue. Because it doesn’t naturally occur that way, brother,” he asserted.

“Because we get our kids vaccinated: mumps, rubella, polio, smallpox. We all do it. That’s all this is. But all of a sudden, it’s a big deal. Somebody put an idea of that in their heads. Or somebodies, a group of people. We are not who we were after 9/11. This pandemic has proven that. We are weak people, and making hard times for ourselves,” Cuomo declared on the eve of the 20th anniversary of 9/11.

He spoke of those who ran into the buildings on 9/11 fighting on Capitol Hill for years to get medical claims covered. Which was an opening to his comparison of  9/11 to the pandemic.

Cuomo went on to expand his feelings concerning 9/11 and the perceived division in America over vaccinations on his show. He noted we were far too divided and that we see each other as enemies rather than brothers.

And then he brought up the pandemic, claiming it was “an enemy many times greater than al Qaeda.” He said that in the face of the threat we forgot how we were on 9/11 and that Americans were literally in denial.

“Our leadership turned us against each other and we made ourselves sick literally. We all mourn 2,977, but we all but ignore 650,000 dead. And what’s worse, is that we had some control… we had no control over 9/11. We had control and we have control over this pandemic. And we’re making it worse. We forgot. But what is forgotten can be remembered,” he said.

He then played a clip of Biden lecturing Americans on getting vaccinated in an evident push to support the president’s heavy-handed federal vaccine mandate.

“Hard times make strong people and weak people make hard times. And we’re acting like a weak people right now,” Cuomo intoned.

Referring to Biden, he said, “Those words echo to a time 20 years past. That’s what we’re going to commemorate with 9/11. But while it’s 20 years ago, it’s a state of being very much needed in the present. Actually, I argue we need to be who we were then more than we need it to be that now. We need it now.”
