ABC News’ Martha Raddatz dropped a monster of a fact-check — the MOAB of all fact-checks, one might say — on President Joe Biden after his “the war in Afghanistan is over” speech Tuesday afternoon.

She launched her critique by giving the president credit for a mostly “successful evacuation.” Biden had spent much of his speech bragging about how his administration had “completed one of the biggest airlifts in history.”

Some may have been tempted to change the channel when Raddatz briefly doled out some credit, but those who did missed the brutal fact-check that then ensued.

“We did get more than 120,000 people out of there, but he’s conflating the withdrawal with the evacuation. The evacuation occurred because they did not realize the Taliban would take over so quickly, they did not realize the [country] would fall in 11 days,” she said, beginning her fact-check.

“And that’s why you ended up with this chaos. That’s why you ended up with so many desperate people,” she added.

But she was just warming up for the main event.

Raddatz began juxtaposing the claims Biden had made in July with the reality on the ground in Afghanistan now.

“Just on July 8th, the president was saying there’s going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of an embassy of the United States from Afghanistan,” she said.

Yet only weeks later, people were seen being lifted off the roof of an embassy — and worse, desperate Afghans were seen “clinging to airplanes” in an attempt to flee the country.

“He was touting the Afghan forces, saying ‘I trust the capacity of the Afghan military.’ The president said they were ready, they were prepared for this. But no one was prepared for 11 days for the Taliban to take over,” the ABC News host continued.

“The president also promising on July 8 that we can guarantee the safety of the interpreters. There are thousands of interpreters in Afghanistan right now who are desperate and frightened,” she added.

Including one who once rescued the president.

“Thirteen years ago, Afghan interpreter Mohammed helped rescue then- Sen. Joe Biden and two other senators stranded in a remote Afghanistan valley after their helicopter was forced to land in a snowstorm. Now, Mohammed is asking President Biden to save him,” The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

“Hello Mr. President: Save me and my family. Don’t forget me here,” Mohammed said to the outlet.

Concluding her fact-check, Raddatz drew attention to the remarks Biden had made to her colleague George Stephanopoulos just a few weeks ago.

“Just about a month ago, he told our George Stephanopoulos that he would get all Americans out. They’ve gotten 90 percent of those out, and that 10 right now is scared and still does not know exactly how they’re going to get out,” she said.

That was the same infamous interview in which, when questioned about Afghans falling to their death after desperately clinging to a plane, the president complained “that was four days ago, five days ago,” meaning, apparently, that it didn’t matter.

Raddatz’ refreshing honesty isn’t a first. Like other mainstream establishment journalists, she’s been relentlessly hammering Biden for the catastrophe he created in Afghanistan.

The truth is that the debacle there has created strange bedfellows. For once in an extremely rare moon, traditional conservatives and mainstream establishment media figures are on the same page.

Conversely, for once in an extremely rare moon, populist conservatives (the type who’re extremely pro-isolationist) and Biden sycophants (i.e., leftists) are on the same page as well.

To the left, this polar reversal has — ironically enough — suddenly transformed “journalists” from oracles of truth who cannot be questioned to purveyors of “fake news” who deserve to be disparaged and mocked as “armchair quarterbacks.”

Note, for instance, the hatred being directed at Raddatz over her 100 percent factually accurate fact-check (*Language warning):

Shadi Hamid, a senior fellow at the decidedly left-wing Brookings Institution, has faced the same brutal attacks for calling out Biden for being “cruel and indifferent to the fate of millions of Muslims” in Afghanistan who now live under Taliban rule.
