Trump responds to Pelosi’s ‘sham insurrection’ committee’s sweeping records requests

Now that Congress is back in session following their latest extended vacation, the never-ending witch hunt has also resumed, with the politically stacked select committee investigating the so-called “insurrection” requesting a slew of records as it seeks to take revenge against former President Donald J. Trump.

The committee’s request includes White House communications records from on or before the events at the Capitol on January 6th as well as phone records from GOP members of Congress, Pentagon documents “concerning possible attempts by President Donald Trump to remain in office after January 20, 2021″ and material from numerous government agencies including the Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and the Director of National Intelligence.

Also requested are”documents and communications related to the mental stability of Donald Trump or his fitness for office,” an ongoing obsession of Democrats has been the mental health of the ex-POTUS as it relates to the 25th Amendment.

The target of the probe responded forcefully to what he described as a “partisan sham” and just more “political theatre” designed to distract from Biden’s failures in another one of the statements that he has relied on since he was banned from all social media platforms in a coordinated effort to silence him. He also vowed that he would vigorously defend executive privilege.

According to Trump, ‘The Leftist ‘select committee’ has further exposed itself as a partisan sham and waste of taxpayer dollars with a request that’s timed to distract Americans from historic and global catastrophes brought on by the failures of Joe Biden and the Democrats.”

“Unfortunately, this partisan exercise is being performed at the expense of long-standing legal principles of privilege,” he added. “Executive privilege will be defended, not just on behalf of my Administration and the Patriots who worked beside me, but on behalf of the Office of the President of the United States and the future of our Nation.”

‘These Democrats only have one tired trick—political theater—and their latest request only reinforces that pathetic reality,” Trump wrote.

House Select Committee Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson has given the agencies a deadline of September 9 to hand over the materials, a sign that Democrats plan to use their panel as a smokescreen to divert attention from President Joe Biden’s Afghanistan debacle along with his failure to get COVID under control and to dominate media coverage with yet another politically motivated persecution of Trump.

The committee was created in place of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “9/11 style” commission which would have been a nationally televised spectacle where supporters of the former president would be hauled in front of a tribunal while the media would churn out the narrative that the protest which primarily consisted of a ragtag band of regular Americans taking selfies during the brief occupation of the Capitol, was a serious plot to overthrow the government.

Pelosi had to settle on the committee which includes veterans of the two failed impeachments in Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, and Zoe Lofgren along with malicious actor Liz Cheney and virulently anti-Trump Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger. Pelosi rejected Republicans who could have been included as a part of a legitimate bipartisan effort and made it clear that, like the impeachments, it is another political sham.

The request for the records is a sign of how serious that Democrats and their allies are to foist this grotesque travesty off on the American people at a time when the entire nation is under attack from the Biden administration, especially those who voted for the “wrong” candidate in the 2020 election.
