Taliban vows to fight climate change … oh, and terrorism

Taliban terrorists are not only ironically claiming they will fight terrorism but are also laughingly vowing to tackle climate change while they aggressively implement brutal Sharia law and concentrate on returning Afghanistan to the stone age.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, who is a member of the Taliban’s Cultural Commission, claims the Islamists want to play a role on the global stage when it comes to climate change and other issues.

“We hope not only to be recognized by regional countries but the entire world at large as the legitimate representative government of the people of Afghanistan who have gained their right of self-determination from a foreign occupation with the backing and support of an entire nation after a prolonged struggle and immense sacrifices despite all odds being stacked against our people,” Balkhi solemnly told Newsweek.

“We believe the world has a unique opportunity of rapprochement and coming together to tackle the challenges not only facing us but the entire humanity,” he declared. “These challenges ranging from world security and climate change need the collective efforts of all, and cannot be achieved if we exclude or ignore an entire people who have been devastated by imposed wars for the past four decades.”

The Taliban’s platitudes were echoed by CBS who published an article entitled “How climate change helped strengthen the Taliban.”

The less-than-credible premise was published by a CBS News reporter who attempted to make the case that due to decades of floods and droughts that have negatively impacted the country’s frustrated farmers, these poor souls had been pushed into committing violence and terrorism.

“Whether from drought or flood-ravaged soil, farmers in the region struggle to maintain productive crops and livestock. When they cannot profitably farm, they’re forced to borrow funds to survive. When Afghans can’t pay off lenders, the Taliban often steps in to sow government resentment,” the piece reads.

“[Farmers] fall into choices. That’s when they become prey to people who would tell them, ‘Look, the government is screwing you over and this land should be productive. They’re not helping you. Come and join us; let’s topple this government,’” Nadim Farajalla, a climate change official at the American University of Beirut posits.

The statements coming from the bloodthirsty Taliban do not reflect their history or their current actions. They have slaughtered Afghans, ignored and abused women’s rights, and nurtured and elevated global terrorists. They abuse children and are known for their habit of raping women, taking brides by force, and selling women into sex slavery. Their resume is replete with beheadings, burning Afghans at the stake, crucifying individuals, hanging violators, cutting off limbs, and their personal favorite… stoning people to death.

As for climate change, the Taliban has burned vast swaths of farmland to terrorize citizens. They have also previously engaged in heavy deforestation from an illegal timber trade. They razed millions of acres of forests in Afghanistan to supply wood to the Pakistanis.

Newsweek was quick to jump on the “we believe the Taliban” train, “And while the Taliban have been accused of involvement in climate-harming activities such as illicit logging and mining, the group has for years presented itself as a supporter of green initiatives such as tree-planting and environment protection.” There is no reliable evidence of any of that occurring.

The Taliban is now in control of what’s estimated by the U.S. Geological Survey to be up to $1 trillion in mineral resources. That includes lithium, an increasingly sought-after rare mineral, which intensely interests China.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin hinted Monday at the possibility of Beijing providing economic support for Afghanistan.

“China always pursues a friendly policy toward the entire Afghan people,” Wang asserted. “For a long time, China has provided much assistance in economic and social development in Afghanistan. China hopes to see an early end of turbulence and restoration of economic and financial order in Afghanistan. China stands ready to continue to play an active role in promoting peace and reconstruction in Afghanistan, and helping the nation to enhance the ability to achieve self-development and improve people’s livelihood.”

The Russians and Iranians are also supporting the Taliban in their endeavors.

Their moderation claims are less-than-believable. Especially when it comes to women’s rights where they insist that they will be respected under Shariah law and girls will be able to go to school. Women are subjugated under Shariah law and forget about getting an education if you are female.

Spokesmen Suhail Shaheen and Zabihullah Mujahid have both claimed that women will have a say in their new government in their attempts to win over foreign investors all evidence to the contrary.

There are already chilling reports that Islamist militants are scouring Afghanistan for women and girls.

Jihadist commanders were reportedly ordering imams in areas they have captured to produce lists of unmarried women ranging in age from 12 to 45 for their soldiers to marry because they view them as “qhanimat” or “spoils of war” that are to be divided up among the victors.

People laughed at the ridiculous idea of the Taliban fighting climate change:
