The hypocrisy of Democrats has once again been laid bare for all to see after video of a swanky gathering featuring an unmasked Nancy Pelosi wining and dining dozens of her maskless rich donors at a Napa Valley fundraiser exploded across social media.
Madame Speaker and her fellow Democrats continue to demonstrate that when it comes to COVID that “rules are for thee and not for me” and at a time when America’s schoolchildren are being forced to wear the stifling face coverings for the entire day as they return to classrooms, the optics couldn’t be worse for the top congressional Democrat and her party.
The clip of rich white high rollers was posted to the Facebook page of a rich donor and winemaker and promptly went viral on Twitter after it was discovered by journalist Kenneth Vogel of The New York Times who noted that it appeared to be from an event to raise money for House Democrats who are in danger of losing their seats in next year’s critical midterm elections.
According to Vogel, the tickets ran from $100 to $29,000 to schmooze with Pelosi in an outdoor setting where the bare-faced guests sat shoulder to shoulder, not bothering with social distances in an area of California that has been hit hard by the delta variant.

According to the CDC, Napa Valley has been designated as a high transmission area, the most dangerous level, and recommends that “In areas with high numbers of COVID-19 cases, consider wearing a mask in crowded outdoor settings and for activities with close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated,” according to the agency’s website.
But as so often has been seen with the elite, rules are for the little people.
Some like Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald noted that the servants were held to different standards than the fat cats; “The almost-entirely old, white, rich crowd of DCCC donors free to go maskless as they’re served,” he tweeted.
Actor Adam Baldwin tweeted: “The peasants serving the aristocrats are required to wear masks.”
Talk about white privilege.
Twitter erupted with scorn for Pelosi along with accusations of hypocrisy, with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy being among the critics.
“Speaker Pelosi wants to lock you down again while she wines and dines with her political donors. It’s utter hypocrisy,” tweeted the top House Republican.

Nancy Pelosi has a maskless lunch in Napa. Obama has a maskless birthday party on Martha’s Vineyard…yet somehow if we don’t wear a mask, we’re the bad guys.

While Pelosi talks about how the party can reach out to young people… if this were a scene in a black comedy you’d think it was too much https://t.co/DYohJmPwtB

On the other end of the country, Pelosi’s Senate counterpart Chuck Schumer was also torched after he was caught on video dancing with multimillionaire late-night television personality Stephen Colbert, having a grand time on the taxpayer dole while thousands of Americans remain trapped in Taliban-controlled territory in Kabul.

It’s not the first time that Pelosi has been exposed as a shameless hypocrite; last year she was excoriated after she was caught in violation of San Francisco’s masking and social distancing rules when she got her hair done at a local salon, bringing her much embarrassment after her insistence that Americans should wear the stifling face diapers.
She was also recently dragged for partying with her fellow unmasked Democrats after she fined House Republicans who did not wear masks on the House floor.

Pelosi’s fundraiser undercuts the message of the Biden administration that masks should be mandatory in schools and gives the correct impression that Washington is completely out of touch with mainstream America.
George Orwell put it best in his classic novel “Animal Farm” when he wrote that “All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others,” which may as well be the Democrat Party’s official motto.
