Chris Cuomo confronted in the Hamptons, spars with reporter

According to The New York Times, CNN host Chris Cuomo reportedly advised his older brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, to resign on Tuesday after it was determined that he couldn’t survive his latest political scandal.

Michael Grynbaum of the Times is reporting, “Chris Cuomo has regularly spoken with Governor Cuomo by telephone over the past week and advised his brother to resign, said two people who requested anonymity to describe sensitive private conversations.”

Chris Cuomo was questioned by Fox News as he left his speedboat “Heartstrong” in the Hamptons on whether he had actually advised the “Luv Gov” to step down. He dodged every query while getting in his truck to leave.

“Have you spoken to your brother today, sir?” a Fox News reporter asked Cuomo as he walked away from the Sag Harbor Yacht Yard with a row of mega yachts lined up behind him.

“Of course I have,” Cuomo stated.

“Did you advise him to step down?” the reporter continued. Cuomo did not respond to that question.

Cuomo did pause long enough to sarcastically quip to the reporter that his brother would be down at the Sag Harbor Yacht Yard in “five minutes if you wait around.” Off-camera, the CNN host had implied that he might have the reporter arrested by state troopers. He claimed that he “called to tell them not to get you.”

“I think you have a job, and I’m gonna let you do it,” Cuomo magnanimously stated while approaching his truck.

The CNN talking head then got into his black Ford F-150 SVT pickup with an American flag sticker on the tailgate and drove off. He refused to answer whether he believed the 11 women who are accusing his brother of sexual harassment. He also would not comment on whether he was advising him or if there was a conflict of interest at CNN.

Chris Cuomo conveniently went on vacation just as his brother’s explosive scandal came to a head. But he claims he takes a week off every year for his birthday at this time and the leave was planned far in advance.

Last May, it came to light that he had participated in strategy sessions with Governor Cuomo on how to handle the sexual harassment allegations. Later, CNN President Jeff Zucker stated that the host had “made a mistake” and that the network had forbidden him from any additional sessions on the matter. But CNN did not prohibit him from speaking with his brother concerning the scandal.

CNN stated that it was “inappropriate to engage in conversations that included members of the Governor’s staff, which Chris acknowledges.”

Governor Cuomo announced on Tuesday that he would resign in two weeks after a report from the New York attorney general’s office found that he had sexually harassed 11 women and had broken state and federal laws.

“I think, given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing,” he declared.
