Jordan rips ‘political nature’ of Pelosi’s Jan. 6 commission, which has no interest in her role in lax security

Rep. Jim Jordan slammed the “political nature” of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Jan. 6 commission, calling out Democrats for sticking to the “playbook” of blaming former President Donald Trump for the alleged “insurrection” attempt.

The Ohio Republican spoke with Fox News host Mark Levin Sunday on “Life, Liberty & Levin” about how the claim by Democrats that “everything is on the table” in the investigation of the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol is not really the case.

“It would be nice if Democrats had some consistency – they don’t, because everything for them is about politics,” Jordan said. “They don’t want to address one of the fundamental questions which is why wasn’t there a better security posture that day.”

He noted that press reports have indicated that Pelosi nixed having the National Guard deployed into the nation’s capital that day and that “she hesitated in calling them up.”

“What could be the reason? My hunch is what we saw all last summer – we saw the Democrats talk about defunding police, and we saw them actually defund police. We saw Democrats, the rioters and looters who attacked law enforcement, destroyed small businesses, who attacked innocent civilians, we saw Democrats raise money to bail them out of jail,” Jordan said.

“So with that backdrop, it’s kind of hard to say ‘hey, we need more of you here on January 6 to protect the capitol grounds and protect the personnel inside the capitol.’ I don’t think that they want to get to the question,” he added.

Jordan highlighted the hypocrisy of Democrats, contending that Pelosi’s January 6 committee is just another chapter in the “playbook” they employ to attack Trump while deflecting attention from the serious problems facing the nation such as inflation and the crisis at the southern border.

“I think the American people see through this. They see it for what it is. The questions that need to be asked, the answers we need to get deal with why there wasn’t a better security posture that day. Only the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives can answer that,” Jordan said.

“And that’s the one question: The one, Chairman Thompson said ‘everything’s on the table’ – Well, excuse me, everything’s on the table except that question,” he added, referring to committee Chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson. “So this tells you the political nature of this entire committee.”

Thompson, during his opening statement at the hearing last week, claimed the probe would “be guided solely by the facts, the facts of what happened on January 6th and the run-up to that tragic day and what has taken place since.”

“That’s what we’re charged to do by House Resolution 503. There’s no place for politics or partisanship in this investigation. Our only charge is to follow the facts where they lead us,” Thompson said.

Levin slammed Thompson and Democrats for their double standard, after having excused and even ignored Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioting that unfolded for months last year.

“They have embraced Black Lives Matter, which is a Marxist anarchist, violent organization, and they’re led by Marxists,” he said.”They’ve been trashing police officers from sea to shining sea.”

“How come more officers from that day aren’t testifying, including the ones that opened the doors and let people in, as a matter of fact, including the ones that have questions – as you pointed out,” he said to Jordan, “with Nancy Pelosi in the leadership of the Democrat Party in the House of Representatives. There’s a lot of questions here, but she doesn’t want to pursue them, does she?”
