Biden taps U.S. Attorney with reputation for opposing prosecution of drug dealers and thieves

In an unsurprising continuation of the “defund the police” movement on the left, President Joe Biden nominated District Attorney Rachael Rollins to head the U.S. Attorney’s office in Massachusetts.

Rollins is a well-known progressive D.A. who was once criticized by the Heritage Foundation as “the grand dame of the rogue prosecutor movement when it comes to her nonprosecution practices.”

Last year, Rollins and two other district attorneys formed the Truth, Justice, and Reconciliation Commission. Modeled after South African tribunals designed to address apartheid, the three were backed by none other than George Soros, a man whom RINOs and even conservative leadership incidentally refuse to declare an enemy of the state.

They have partnered with the left-wing group Grassroots Law Project, an organization that states that police reform “must begin with defunding police and investing in communities.” A statement that President Joe Biden and progressives would no doubt deflect and project on to Republicans and conservatives.

Although Rollins has not openly called for defunding police forces, she supports “a moratorium on the prosecution of 15 crimes, including drug distribution, shoplifting, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, breaking and entering, and making threats,” according to The Washington Free Beacon.

However, in the classic leftist fashion of “rules for thee, not for me,” Rollins doesn’t mind exercising her own brand of crime and punishment.

“Massachusetts’s Democratic attorney general Maura Healey investigated Rollins over an incident on Christmas Eve 2020 in which she allegedly threatened to issue a traffic citation to a motorist who cut her off in traffic,” Beacon reported.

Complete with police lights on her government car, Rollins reportedly pulled over the motorist herself in a fit of road rage, an act some could argue is unbecoming of a public servant.

Then, when asked by a reporter about the incident, Rollins threatened to call the police on the individual.

“I’ll call the police on you and make an allegation and we’ll see how that works with you,” Rollins had said, evidently channeling former President Obama and his contempt for journalists who don’t toe the progressive line.

She has also vowed as district attorney to end mandatory life-without-parole sentences for those who committed murder between the ages of 18 and 20, and that those defendants be given special hearings so that their young age may be taken into account when sentencing is brought down.

“We’re going to do what’s right and at least have them have more hope and opportunity … to believe that they can change after 10, 15, 20 or so years,” Rollins told the Associated Press last month.

Awash with praise from some of the usual suspects like Sens. Edward J. Markey and Elizabeth Warren, Rollins’ office stated she was “incredibly humbled by the great honor,” but still primarily concerned with keeping Suffolk County residents safe as district attorney, according to NBC 10 Boston.

How she intends to do that while not prosecuting at least 15 different crimes is anyone’s guess.

One thing that is certain – and a fact that liberals continue to ignore – is that it is minority groups who suffer the most when police are removed from neighborhoods under the guise of protecting minorities.
