Even as crime continues to surge in America’s cities under Democrat control, left-wing billionaire George Soros seems to be upping the ante on efforts to defund the police.
In May, perhaps placing a bet on more anarchy, Soros donated $1 million, according to Federal Election Commission records, to the Color of Change PAC (political action committee), an organization that champions dismantling law enforcement or cutting its budget entirely.
“Color Of Change, which bills itself as the largest online racial justice group in the country, is a vocal supporter of defunding the nation’s police departments. It led an online political outreach campaign last year to defund police departments following the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor,” the Washington Free Beacon explained.
The seven-figure donation is said to be the largest contribution by globalist Soros in the 2021 election cycle. The hedge fund manager will likely will be opening his massive checkbook for Democrats (the party that often laments money in politics) even more in 2022 to prevent the GOP from retaking control of Congress.
Deep-pocketed Soros has helped fund the political campaigns of soft-on-crime Democrat district attorneys and prosecutors in violence-ridden Los Angeles, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Philadelphia, among other areas, with the result that, in the words of U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) “These renegade lawyers have turned the criminal justice system into the criminal’s justice system.”

“When George Soros funded scores of elections for prosecutors who have no intention of prosecuting criminals and every intention of prosecuting police officers, he knew exactly what he was doing. He was funding a counter-revolution in the U.S,” author and Fox News host Mark Levin declared last year.
Based on polling and other reasons, some leading Democrats, however, have tried to walk back calls for this dangerous social experiment, along with the acknowledgement that it appears to have cost them U.S. House seats in 2020.
Even the trendy, liberal New York magazine has conceded that woke policies such as defunding the police may be backfiring on Democrats within their constituencies, which is prompting second thoughts among at least some in the political establishment.
The likely next New York City mayor, Democrat primary winner Eric Adams, for example, campaigned on getting tough on crime.
Moreover, the Democrats’ gaslighting attempt to rebrand congressional Republicans as police defunders because the latter voted, en masse, against the $1.9 trillion so-called American Rescue Plan, fell flat.
Soros and his Open Society Foundations also bankrolled advocacy for open borders in the European Union, a policy that has caused widespread social instability among its member nations.
In September 2020, Tucker Carlson observed that “Left-wing mega-donors like George Soros realized it’s easier to install radical DAs than it is to convince the public to let their own cities burn. Soros has worked hard to elect district attorneys who will nullify laws against rioting and violence by failing to enforce them.”
Last month, a Color of Change campaign director told the BK Reader, a digital news outlet serving Brooklyn, N.Y., that “This movement is demanding a reimaging of public safety, we are saying no more police and no more mass incarceration.”
According to the Examiner, Color of Change received grants from the Open Society Foundations totaling about $1 million in 2019.
