Rasmussen finds majority of Americans across the board want probe into 2020 riots over Jan 6

Democrats are still hung up on the Capitol riot that took place nearly six months ago, evidenced by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s commitment to her January 6th commission, but a new poll proves that this is not the event that most Americans want to be investigated.

A new Rasmussen Reports poll found that the majority of voters want an investigation of the Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots last year that ignited a trend of lawlessness across American cities that still have yet to be resolved.

In fact, a majority of voters across the board –67% of white voters,  64% of black voters, 66% of Hispanics and 62% of other minorities– believe Congress should investigate the riots that occurred in U.S. cities during the summer of 2020.

Translated into party affiliations, the majority of voters across parties,  75% of Republicans, 60% of Democrats, and 63% of voters not affiliated with either major party, say Congress should investigate last year’s violent protests.

These numbers are too large to be dismissed and should serve as a wake-up call for Democrats who continue to peddle lies in an attempt to garner support for their politically motivated January 6th commission, their “defund the police” movement, and other radical, inflammatory priorities.

“When the mayors of cities in which violent riots took place in 2020 refused to let police immediately stop the crimes taking place, it sent a message to violent criminals across the nation that crimes will be allowed and criminals won’t be touched. For the last year violent crimes have increased nationally and the lack of support from politicians has resulted in the number of police officers declining into a short staffing recruitment and retention crisis,” the National Police Association remarked.

Democrats are out of touch with the desires and needs of  Americans as they remain laser-focused on their own narrative and agenda. Compared with likely voters who want an investigation of last summer’s riots, a minority of likely voters, 49%, say they support House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s committee investigation into the January 6 Capitol riot.

It has become clear that the vast majority of voters want time and taxpayer dollars spent on other priorities and 42% of Americans reported that they don’t support a January 6 investigation at all.

According to the poll results, Americans want law enforcement to be honored for their efforts to defend American cities and lives in the same way they were honored for defending the Capitol.

Rasmussen summarized that “53% think Congress should award medals to the law enforcement agencies that defended their cities from violent looters and rioters in 2020 similar to the awards proposed by Nancy Pelosi for the Capitol Police.”

Americans believe politicians who downplayed the severity of the riots deserve to face criticism:

“62% of voters believe that elected officials who downplay the nationwide 2020 rioting and looting deserve to be criticized, a number higher than the 51% who believe politicians deserve criticism for downplaying the January 6 Capitol riot,” Rasmussen reports, despite the daily barrage of rhetoric that would have Americans believe otherwise.

Among other surprising finds, 65% disagreed with woke social justice activists who claim that “the U.S. flag and the pro-police ”Thin Blue Line’ flags are symbols of racism.”

The report says most voters agree that failing to prosecute “quality of life” crimes encourages and increases the crime rate, including 77% of Republicans, 60% of Democrats, and 65% of unaffiliated voters agreeing.

A whopping 76% of voters believe young people “should be taught to comply with police rather than resist or flee arrest,” a narrative that is not likely to grace the scripts of CNN or MSNBC reporting anytime soon.

Despite these findings, Pelosi plans to railroad forward with her January 6th commission after rejecting two of the Republican member picks.

“The violent domestic attack on Congress on January 6th was the worst assault on the Capitol since the War of 1812 and the worst domestic assault on American Democracy since the Civil War.  We are facing a radically new threat in the kinds of forces that combined to attack our government on January 6th.  The future of our democracy is on the line.  This assault was an attempt to overthrow the government,” the speaker said in a Wednesday statement.

While Pelosi and her cronies are unlikely to take up any issues that deviate from their agenda, this poll offers important insight into the starkly different realities of America’s elite and their fight to stay in power versus the will of the American people.

Don’t be fooled by what you see on your television screens.
