The Biden administration is being lambasted after the Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday it will restrict travel from the U.S. to Mexico and Canada due to the spread of a new COVID variant, even as the White House is allowing hundreds of thousands of people to stream illegally into the country.
“To decrease the spread of COVID-19, including the Delta variant, the United States is extending restrictions on non-essential travel at our land and ferry crossings with Canada and Mexico through August 21, while ensuring the continued flow of essential trade and travel,” DHS said in an announcement on Twitter.
DHS is in constant contact with Canadian and Mexican counterparts to identify the conditions under which restrictions may be eased safely and sustainably.

“DHS is in constant contact with Canadian and Mexican counterparts to identify the conditions under which restrictions may be eased safely and sustainably,” the department’s message continued.
The announcement was heavily criticized on social media.
Meanwhile, scenes along portions of the U.S.-Mexico border, particularly in Texas, remain chaotic, at best, with immigration authorities and local law enforcement inundated daily with waves of humanity, making it next to impossible to know anything at all about who is being let in per DHS guidance, at the instruction of President Joe Biden.

COVID-19 cases have surged 900% at the border in the Rio Grande Valley sector.
But Democrats want to lock YOU down again to "slow the spread."

“Yet, you’ll let people flow over the southern border unchecked. Does this make any sense at all?” one user wrote, tagging Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the latter of whom was appointed so-called ‘border czar’ by the president in March, but who has yet to get a handle on the influx of migrants.
“The Biden administration is now the administration of family separation by extending a nonsensical border closure policy that is keeping families apart for no reason. The stories of those who have been without their loved ones for 16 months will be heard and remembered,” wrote another.
“They need to do something about the people coming into the US from Mexico,” another user added.
“Roughly 170,000 to 180,000 mostly untested and unvaccinated are arriving at out [sic] southern border each month and being resettled all across the country by the federal government. You’re fueling the latest surge of the pandemic,” said another.
One user mocked: “But illegals can still cross the border, right?”
In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) railed about immigration authorities being “under siege” as he criticized Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack who said during testimony earlier in the day he had not spoken to a Border Patrol agent in 10 years.
“So, he’s telling me about the border,” Graham said. “I’ve been there more times than I can count. I’ve been working on illegal immigration to try to fix it for 15 years.
“So, you have a Cabinet secretary telling me stuff about pull factors, and he hasn’t talked to the Border Patrol in 10 years. So, I’m tired of this crap,” Graham continued.
“So what’s happened here, Brian, is that the Biden administration was put on notice, right after the election, that if you change Trump policies, if you stop building the wall, you go back to catch and release, allow people to come in and make an asylum claim, release them into the interior of the United States, we will be overwhelmed and overrun,” he added.
“And they were right, and nobody in the Biden administration is adjusting. They’re denying the truth.”
