Former President Donald Trump issued a scathing statement against Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley and called for him to be court-martialed if he actually stated that he believed Trump was orchestrating a coup.
Two Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post reporters, Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker made that alarming allegation in their anti-Trump book “I Alone Can Fix It.” In the book, they claim that Milley believed that the former president would attempt to remain in power through a coup conducted in the final days of his presidency. Trump says it is absolutely untrue.
“Despite the fact that the 2020 Presidential Election was Rigged and Stolen, and while numerous people, including the outside public, were saying we should bring in the Military, I never even gave it a thought. The writings within these third-rate books are Fake News, and ‘General’ Milley (who [former Defense Secretary James] Mattis wanted to send to Europe in order to get rid of him), if he said what was reported, perhaps should be impeached, or court-martialed and tried,” Trump proclaimed in a statement issued on Friday.
“So, there was no talk of a coup, there was no coup, it all never happened, and it’s just a waste of words by fake writers and a General who didn’t have a clue,” Trump contended.

According to the book, Milley allegedly spoke with his deputies to prepare them to act against a Trump coup. “They may try, but they’re not going to f**king succeed,” Milley allegedly informed his deputies. “You can’t do this without the military. You can’t do this without the CIA and the FBI. We’re the guys with the guns.”
“This is a Reichstag moment,” Milley reportedly told his aides. The book goes on to assert that Milley compared Trump’s election claims to the 1933 attack on Germany’s parliament that Hitler used as a pretext to establish a Nazi dictatorship. The general allegedly alluded to Trump’s preaching, “The gospel of the Fuhrer.”
So far, Milley is not contesting what is alleged in the book.
Trump’s released statement blasted Milley and his reported accusations. “I never threatened, or spoke about, to anyone, a coup of our government. So ridiculous!” Trump emphatically wrote on Friday. “Sorry to inform you, but an election is my form of ‘coup,’ and if I was going to do a coup, one of the last people I would want to do it with is General Mark Milley.”
“He [Milley] got his job only because the world’s most overrated general, James Mattis, could not stand him, had no respect for him, and would not recommend him,” Trump continued. “To me, the fact that Mattis didn’t like him, just like Obama didn’t like him and actually fired Milley, was a good thing, not a bad thing. I often act counter to people’s advice who I don’t respect.”
“In any event, I lost respect for Milley when we walked together to St. John’s Church (which was still smoldering from a Radical Left fire set the day before), side by side, a walk that has now been proven to be totally appropriate—and the following day Milley choked like a dog in front of the Fake News when they told him they thought he should not have been walking with the President, which turned out to be incorrect,” Trump remarked.
“He apologized profusely, making it a big story, instead of saying I am proud to walk with and protect the President of the United States. Had he said that, it would have all been over, no big deal, but I saw at that moment he had no courage or skill, certainly not the type of person I would be talking ‘coup’ with. I’m not into coups!” the former president continued.
“In fact, around the same time Milley, in a conversation, was an advocate of changing all of the names of our Military Forts and Bases. I realized then, also, he was a much different person than I had hoped. I said to him, ‘spend more time thinking about China and Russia, and less time on being politically correct,’” he added.
“But never during my Administration did Milley display what he is showing now. He was not ‘woke.’ Actually, I don’t believe he ever was, but the way I look at Milley, he’s just a better politician than a general, trying to curry favor with the Radical Left and the absolute crazy people espousing a philosophy which will destroy our Country!” Trump concluded.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson has also recently called for the firing of Milley following the purported revelations in the book by the two Washington Post journalists. “The question is: why is Mark Milley still in command of the US military? This is not a small question. If what the Washington Post reporters are reporting is true, it’s a question we need to deal with right now,” he declared.

Conservatives roasted Milley on social media for his alleged comments:
By attacking President Trump with blatant lies, General Mark Milley has betrayed his country.

One thing about General Milley. If the comments as reported in the WASHINGTON POST attributed to “Mark” are true—-it shows me that HE WAS THE ONE THINKING ABOUT A COUP. It was MILLEY who Undermined the Constitution. WOKE! (Twitter silence resumes….NOW) pic.twitter.com/WgiXQpZt0I

When General Milley (@thejointstaff) said “They may try, but they’re not going to F**king succeed” he was actually threatening civilians with military action & not with direction from his Commander in Chief. He should be immediately removed from his position & court-martialed.

If you are a current General, Admiral, or an O6, and you are not publicly condemning General Mark Milley and his coup plotting colleagues, don’t forget we will take the Senate back soon and your promotions all have to confirmed. We will keep a list to deny them. #Milley #Traitors

Why military sedition as an issue is important. General Milley’s role is Principal Military Advisor to the President, Secretary of Defense and National Security Council. He has no command authority. Combatant Commanders (4 stars) report to the Civilian Secretary of Defense.

The only Coup Plotter was General Mark Milley — AGAINST TRUMP. The Deep State is out of control! The people must have the United States of America back, peacefully and lawfully. #DeCertifyArizona

Steve Bannon is calling for General Milley to be court marshaled for violating both the Constitution and the military chain of commanf! I agree!
