Bay Area crime has grown so awful that even tourists to the Golden City now face a horrifyingly high risk of becoming a victim.

One such California tourist, a woman, reportedly got carjacked just days ago in Emeryville, a city close to Oakland.

“The woman, who does not want to be identified, was with a friend who wanted to return a pair of jeans. As soon as they parked in the garage Monday afternoon the attack began,” Bay Area station KGO reported.

Some of the horrifying carjacking was caught on camera by someone who was apparently hiding in a nearby car.

The video shows two criminal thugs assaulting a woman on the ground as a third criminal thug pulls her car out of its parking spot.

“They were kicking me and punching me. Two men just ran out and went towards me,” she later told KGO.

Once the car made it out of its parking spot, the thugs left the woman on the ground and fled the scene with her car.

“It felt so fast, like I just closed my eyes and opened it, and the car was gone — everything was gone,” she said.

She added that she’d thought they were being kidnapped. Not until after the attack did it dawn on her that it’d been a robbery.

As for her friend, she reportedly managed to kick her attacker and run away.

“What was left: two black eyes, and both women bruised and shaken, but grateful to be alive,” according to KGO.

“Very lucky,” the woman said of the fact that they at least made it out alive.

Very lucky indeed.

“Police around the region say we are in the midst of an epidemic of gun violence the likes of which we have not seen in decades. And it isn’t just in the big cities like San Francisco or Oakland, but the smaller ones, too,” according to KGO.

Including smaller ones like Emeryville, for instance, where there have reportedly been at least three robbery/carjacking cases since May, as well as several armed robberies at stores such as Victoria’s Secret, Uniqlo, and Lenscrafters.

Asked about the preponderance of crime in the area, the victim in Monday’s robbery said, “If it happened multiple times [at] the mall, [they] should do a bit more to do make sure people feel secure, safe when they go shopping.”

But they’re not doing more. The Bay Area is, in fact, a radically far-left part of the country where it appears law and order don’t seem to matter for much.

Case in point: San Francisco routinely lets dangerous criminals out of jail thanks to a disastrous zero-bail policy that’s led to a surge in crime.

A study released this past week found that “half of the people charged with crimes in San Francisco and released from jail before trial were accused of committing a new crime while they were free in recent years,” as reported by station KRON.

“Additionally, 1 in 6 defendants allegedly went on to commit a new violent offense,” according to the station.

One such criminal attempted to strangle a child and hijack a car only 10 minutes after he was released from jail in May of 2020 for “DUI-drugs and driving the wrong way.”

Yet San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, a radically far-left Democrat, refuses to budge on the issue, and the consequences are starting to become abundantly clear.

“Seventeen Walgreens over the last five years, almost every Gap retail outlet is gone, CVS is under assault,” San Francisco Supervisor Ahsha Safai recently said about the ramifications of the Bay Area’s endless crime surge.

“People are scared to go into these stores: seniors, people with disabilities, children. And it’s happening brazenly. We can’t just as a city throw up our hands and say this is OK,” he added.

But that’s exactly what Boudin continues to do.

Meanwhile, Target announced earlier this month that, because of the uptick in crime, it would be reducing the operating hours for all of its stores in the Bay Area.

“For more than a month, we’ve been experiencing a significant and alarming rise in theft and security incidents at our San Francisco stores, similar to reports from other retailers in the area,” the company said.

“With the safety of our guests, team members and communities as our top priority, we’ve temporarily reduced our operating hours in six San Francisco stores,” it added.

What’s Boudin concerned with as all of this is happening?

Playing Democrat politics.
