Bill Cosby unloads pent-up anger: ‘Mainstream media are the Insurrectionists, who stormed the Capitol …’

Bill Cosby blasted the mainstream media for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot while calling them out for knowingly, intentionally, and dishonestly misleading the public concerning his overturned case.

The 83-year-old issued a statement Sunday that seemed to target the “Media Insurrectionists” as the ones to blame for the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

“This (sic) mainstream media are the Insurrectionists, who stormed the Capitol. Those same Media Insurrectionists are trying to demolish the Constitution of these United State of America on this Independence Day,” Cosby said in the statement after defending his former co-star Phylicia Rashad, according to Deadline.

His remarks followed multiple tweets calling out the media since his release from prison after his conviction was suddenly overturned last week.

“Mainstream media has irresponsibly, egregiously and inexcusably misled the public with out of context coverage regarding Bill Cosby’s deposition testimony. This shall serve as a grave reminder of the consequences that come with lying to the American people to satisfy an agenda,” he charged on Twitter.

“In response to the rhetoric that the media keeps pushing, Bill Cosby never admitted in his deposition testimony, or anywhere else, to nonconsensual sexual contact with any woman and/or the drugging of anyone — he has never admitted to spiking drinks, as the media would like you…” he tweeted.

The tweets continued, stating “…he has never admitted to spiking drinks, as the media would like you to believe. He has steadfastly maintained his innocence, before and after being falsely convicted of aggravated indecent assault.”

“The media’s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power. Because they control the minds of the masses.” ― Malcolm X,” Cosby tweeted last week in his rant against the media and highlighting how the media convicts those they hate and pardons those they favor.

He has long contended that the media has been lying about his case. Prior to his release, Cosby asserted that the media was not being truthful about the facts. “Attention: America. They are lying to you again. Here are the facts: Contrary to the reports that you have been reading in the media, Mr. Cosby was never charged nor convicted of rape. Mr. Cosby was convicted of aggravated indecent assault, for which he maintains his innocence,” he tweeted.

“The media and its machine have repeatedly and blatantly misled and misrepresented the facts, continuing in their attempt to manipulate public opinion against Mr. Cosby,” Cosby also stated.

Cosby came out in a fiery defense of his Rashad as well, using the 4th of July holiday to rebuke the university and call out the media.

“Howard University you must support ones Freedom of Speech (Ms. Rashad), which is taught or suppose to be taught everyday at that renowned law school, which resides on your campus,” Cosby proclaimed.

“No technicality — it’s a violation of ones rights & we the people stand in support of Ms. Phylicia Rashad,” Cosby also stated. He reiterated that point on Twitter Sunday.

Rashad’s mea culpa said that she “fully supports survivors of sexual assault coming forward” and that her tweet “was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth.”

“The Cosby Show” actress gave a formal apology to students and parents at Howard University. She vowed to “engage in active listening and participate in training” to become a “stronger ally to sexual assault survivors.”
