You won’t believe Joy Behar’s harebrained idea on why Kamala Harris faces criticism

“The View” co-host Joy Behar offered up a pained defense of Kamala Harris during Friday’s program, suggesting that criticism of the vice president is personal, racist, and has nothing at all to do with her actual job performance.

“You know, there’s something about this story that doesn’t pass the smell test for me. I mean, this is the second big story about Kamala Harris, a negative,” Behar offered.

“The first was at the border, and now this,” she continued, citing a Politico story last week that quoted current and former staffers in the VP’s office who describe a “chaotic” environment and low morale amid alleged mistreatment by Harris and her senior personnel.

“She’s only been in the job for six months. You know, Joe Biden was working in Congress for 40 years before he became vice president. You know, what’s interesting is that this will be used by the right wing to attack the Biden administration,” the liberal co-host continued, before suggesting that the criticism of Harris was entirely due to racism.

“And isn’t it interesting that they go after a black woman? They don’t go after a white guy, Joe Biden, as much because Joe Biden looks like the base on the right. He looks like them. So it’s hard for them to get mad at him because then they get mad at themselves,” said Behar.

“Something psychological is going on there. She doesn’t look like the base so it’s easy to go after her,” she charged.  “So, I don’t put much stake in this. I don’t think this article means much, it’s meaningless,” she continued before going on to falsely accuse the outlet of being a conservative source.

“And Politico is — they pretty much turn, go right so I don’t trust it. And like everybody said, if you have a gripe with your boss, you don’t go leaking it to the press. Something else is going on here. Somebody else leaked this to hurt her,” Behar alleged.

In the past, Behar appears to have taken Politico reporting at face value when it was detrimental to former President Donald Trump and members of his inner circle and administration.

After the outlet reported in May 2019 that some Democrats newly in control of the House were pushing for Trump’s first impeachment, Behar said the entire Republican Party should be jailed for defending the president.

And when Politico reported a few months later that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) advised that Democratic members of the Judiciary Committee should have held former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski in contempt for refusing to answer some questions, Behar agreed, saying “pimps and murderers” she has taught behaved better.

As for Harris, she was criticized over her border visit not for going but for where she went.

After refusing to make an in-person visit to see the worsening migrant crisis for herself, rather than visit a busy sector she chose instead to visit the border city of El Paso, which is not experiencing any real increases in illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

Regarding the second story, Politico cited “22 current and former vice presidential aides, administration officials and associates of Harris and Biden” who “described a tense and at times dour office atmosphere” in the VP’s office and throughout the administration.

“People are thrown under the bus from the very top, there are short fuses and it’s an abusive environment,” one person who has direct knowledge of how Harris’ office is run told the outlet.

“It’s not a healthy environment and people often feel mistreated. It’s not a place where people feel supported but a place where people feel treated like s**t,” the person added.
