During former President Donald Trump’s second post-presidency rally this Saturday evening in Sarasota, Florida, he zeroed in on the treatment of Jan. 6th rioters, particularly the treatment of deceased Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt.

“Who shot Ashli Babbitt? Who shot Ashli Babbitt? Who? Who shot Ashli Babbitt? We all saw the hand, we saw the gun. I spoke to her mother the other day, an incredible woman. She’s just devastated, like it happened yesterday. Devastated,” he said.

“You know, if that were on the other side, the person that did the shooting would be strung up and hung. Now they don’t want to give the name, they don’t want to give, but people know the name, people know where he came from, and it’s a terrible thing.”

His point was that whenever criminal suspects like convicted armed robber George Floyd or would-be knife murderers like Ma’Khia Bryant are killed by the police, the institutional left makes it a point to draw attention to the shooting officer.

But with Babbitt’s shooting, they’ve acted like it’s best if her shooter remain anonymous.

Listen below to the remarks from his rally:

“Right, shot, boom, there was no reason for it. Who shot Ashli Babbitt? It’s got to be released,” the former president then added.

And that’s another thing. When criminal suspects are shot, there’s this constant assumption that they’d done nothing to provoke it. With Babbitt, the left has clung to the exact opposite conclusion, that she must have been up to something bad.

The former president then turned his attention to the Jan. 6th rioters.

“How come so many people are still in jail over Jan. 6th when nobody paid the price for the fire and carnage and death that took place in Democrat-run cities throughout our country, including Antifa, and BLM?” he said.

“How come, how come? And why are our Republican leaders like McConnell afraid to take up the subject and talk about it? A disgrace to our country. We need strong leaders.”

That very evening, there was violent rioting in Los Angeles by left-wing extremists. Yet as usual, the rioting was completely ignored by the mainstream press and federal authorities.

Besides speaking about the Jan. 6th riot, the former president also spoke about the disinformation that Democrats and their media allies keep spouting now that the public has decidedly turned against the “defund the police” movement.

“So now they are getting killed by defund police, which they are doing by the way. But they are getting absolutely killed. There’s a word ‘disinformation.’ If you say it enough, and keep saying it, just keep saying it, they will start to believe it,” he said.

“We can’t let that happen, because now they are saying it was the Republicans’ fault. … It’s disinformation. They say it again and again and again, and after months and months of hearing it, people begin to believe the Democrats’ claim.”

Later in the speech he added that the Republican Party is, has always been and will always be the pro-police party.

“All law enforcement, I want you to know that the American people thank you, they believe in you, they love you, they respect you, they need you. And we are going to fight for you. Law enforcement’s been treated very badly, but we love you. I just met a lot of them back stage. I’ll tell you, these are great people,” he said.

Last but not least, the president addressed the elephant in the room: the July 4th holiday and the future of the United States.

“The mission for all of us here tonight is to preserve the legacy of July 4, 1776, and to defend our liberty from the radical left movement that seeks to cancel this date, demolish our heritage, and destroy our beloved nation,”  he said.

“In just five months, the Biden administration has launched an all out assault on everything we cherish and we value under Joe Biden and the left.”

He added, “We’re going to elect a Republican Congress to terminate Joe Biden’s open border catastrophe, defund his extreme agenda, and give our ICE and border patrol the resources, support, and gratitude they so richly deserve. The socialist Democrats have not only brought chaos and bedlam to the border, they brought every bad thing you can have on this border.
