In celebration of Pride Month, Hollywood is reimagining wholesome American sitcom classics as drag queen comedies. Paramount+ will stream the comedy special “Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch” as their first revisionist sitcom.
The Paramount+ special is slated to be the first in a series that will recast classic sitcoms with vamping drag queens, according to Variety. The re-envisioned “Brady Bunch” will reunite several members of the original cast although their roles may be switched up.
Disney+ will be getting in on the act as well with an LGBTQ Pride concert that will star drag queen Nina West. She will perform popular Disney songs that will allegedly be redone with Pride themes. This is occurring as some schools are holding drag queen story hours in honor of Pride Month, even going so far as to invite preschoolers, babies, and toddlers to the events.
The Paramount+ “Brady Bunch” show will be a combination of the classic show with VH1’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Original cast members and drag performers will re-tell the season two episode: “Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up?” It will air on June 30.

Eve Plumb will reportedly play “Lucy” and Susan Olsen will play “Margie” while “Drag Race” performers Kylie Sonique Love will play Jan, Kandy Muse will be Cindy, Shea Couleé performs as Marcia, Bianca Del Rio is Carol, BenDeLaCreme will play Greg, and Nina West will be Alice. Both Michelle Visage and RuPaul are expected to make appearances during the episode.
The Brady Bunch returning cast members will include Barry Williams (Greg Brady on the original show, but will be playing Mike Brady), Christopher Knight (Peter Brady), Mike Lookinland (Bobby Brady), Eve Plumb (Jan Brady), and Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady).

Executive producer for World of Wonder, Randy Barbato, said the timing for the release of this special during Pride Month was very important. “For so long, ‘The Brady Bunch’ has represented the idyllic aspirational mixed family, but by mixing the stars of the original cast with the stars of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ we have been able to remind folks of the true meaning and value of family.”
He continued, “It’s also thrilling for us to have the opportunity to showcase the talents of so many of the Drag Race girls, and to see their work alongside iconic actors! Hopefully, this project will help encourage folks to create even more opportunities for artists who don’t always get called upon.”
Lynda Tarryk directed the cast for the special using virtual production technology to recreate the Brady home. The cast was reportedly COVID tested, fully vaccinated, and wearing face masks.
The Pride special vows to “make and break pop culture history.”
Potential other show revisions include Happy Days, The Golden Girls, Bewitched Laverne & Shirley, Who’s the Boss, Married… with Children, Diff’rent Strokes, The Nanny, and Designing Women. There is no word yet if any of the proposed shows are in pre-production or just on the drawing board for now.

The announcement was welcomed by many on Twitter but others feel that it takes one more thing from our childhood memories and tarnishes it with politicized sexuality.
Why can’t we leave these icon shows where they belong. All these redos are just annoying.

Can’t they profit doing anything else? 😂
