NY man sues city over forced removal of pro-Trump flags: ‘Blatant attempt to silence me’

Trump-supporter Michael Wasserman is fed up with the city of Long Beach, New York, and has filed a $25 million lawsuit against them for allegedly attempting to silence him over his pro-Trump flags and stickers.

“I believe the city is trying to silence me because I’m pro-Trump,” Wasserman bluntly stated to the New York Post.

He has become somewhat infamous in the area for flying pro-Trump and pro-police flags on his home and cars. He has also covered both his Porsche and Jeep with stickers. The Porsche has reportedly been keyed numerous times and the 62-year-old entrepreneur has also allegedly been the recipient of death notes placed on his vehicles.

Wasserman filed his lawsuit against the city, the chief of police, specific police officers, and the city manager after he was ordered to remove the flags from his cars.

“They’re bending and massaging the ordinance to fit the crime,” he proclaimed. “This is a blatant attempt to silence me.”

The rift between Wasserman and city authorities has been progressing for some time now. The city is referencing an ordinance it claims Wasserman is in violation of. It states that “[No] sign shall be erected, affixed or maintained within the perimeter of any … public street or public property.” Since Wasserman parks his car on a public street outside his home, the city claims the rule applies to his vehicles.

Howard M. Miller is the city’s high-powered attorney. He made the case for mandating the removal of the flags: “It’s not a political case. It’s not the contents of the message. it’s where he had it — it’s a public street.”

All of this feeds into Wasserman’s contention that he is being targeted for being a conservative and a Trump supporter. Police have visited his home numerous times since March for a variety of reasons.

“[People] spit at me, drive-by cursing me out,” he claimed.

But Wasserman remains undeterred: “If they didn’t try to cancel me, I probably wouldn’t be so prolific,” he remarked. Wasserman is armed and wears a kevlar vest and camera because of the death threats he has received. He’s also reportedly been flipped off repeatedly and had change thrown at him.

“There’s so much vitriol, hate, and anger from liberals,” he commented. “Aren’t they supposed to be inclusive of everyone? They’re not.”

“I’m standing up for my constitutional liberties,” declared Wasserman. “All they try to do is cancel you.”

Ironically, Wasserman’s attorney is Victor Feraru who is a “liberal Democrat.” Although he has been roundly attacked for representing Wasserman, he claims he has a valid lawsuit based on selective enforcement and discrimination.

“We wouldn’t be here if he were flying a Biden flag,” Feraru alleged. “This is … selective targeting for his political ideology.”

It is expected that a motion to dismiss will be filed against the pending lawsuit. Whether that motion will be granted or not is anyone’s guess at this time.

Wasserman was previously a longtime Democrat but switched to the Republican Party in 2004 to vote for former President George W. Bush. Since then he has flown a variety of flags including Marine, pro-police, Tea Party, and the Gadsden flags. He’s not shy about his support for Trump or his dislike for President Joe Biden.

The outspoken and blunt conservative also flies “F–k Biden” banners which his neighbors have filed complaints against. However, the city previously admitted in a March 21 statement that the “profane language .. is considered constitutionally protected.”

Wasserman is being cheered on for suing his liberal hometown:
