Conservative commentator, author, and podcaster Candace Owens ripped the Biden administration and Democrats in general during a Fox News segment Monday, claiming both are using crime, COVID, and other mechanisms to further enhance their power.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Owens said that Democrats have purposely implemented policies in American cities that have led to spikes in violence and criminal behavior with the ultimate objective of empowering a federal leviathan with expanded authorities in a resultant crackdown.
After noting that violence in U.S. cities has gotten way out of hand thanks largely to Democrat policies, Carlson asked Owens what the chances are that the Biden administration’s solutions will further empower the federal government.
“One hundred percent, the chances are 100 percent that the solutions will make them more powerful,” she said.
“I will say it, I’ll spell it out plainly: The United States government, at this point, is engaged in criminality. There’s really no other way to say it,” she continued.
“[Democrats] know exactly what they are doing. They’re using black people and racism as pawns to distract people from what’s actually going on, which is our government has increased its power exponentially over the last two years,” Owens continued.
She went on to cite power grabs during the COVID-19 pandemic, with local and state leaders “telling you when you can open your businesses” and “when you can breathe, literally, when you can breathe.”
The pandemic, “among other things, will be remembered as the greatest wealth transfers of the government to itself,” Owens, author of the best-selling book “Blackout,” and host of the “Candace” podcast, added.
Owens went on to note Carlson’s earlier mention of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, whose city is becoming more violent by the month but who instead used $10 million worth of federal COVID-19 relief funds “to explore a public health crisis that is racism.”
“What does that mean? It means there’s going to be more government. They’re going to employ more people, the government is going to get more power, because they’re going to keep this issue going,” she said.
Owens also touched on Democrats’ focus on Juneteenth, the 1619 Project and other race-related issues to “distract from taking a look at where everything bad that’s happening to our country right now is coming from, and that is the United States government being controlled by Democrats to seek nothing more than to enrich and empower themselves.”
In an interview with Carlson last week, Owens gave a stunning account of what she believes Democrats’ real intentions are behind their ‘defund the police’ movement.
“Do you recall, Tucker, a few months ago when I said to you that the entire ‘Defund the Police’ movement, the entire purpose behind what the Democrats do, they don’t do anything without purpose,” Owens said in reference to a clip of Lightfoot making an appeal to the federal government for assistance in dealing with Chicago’s escalating gun violence and murder rates.
“They are always taking up part and parcel of a Machiavellian scheme. I said to you, Tucker, that they are going to start requesting, while the streets are getting bad enough until they say we now need federal help. And at that moment you’re going to see them start talking about a federal police,” she continued.
They’re going to want to see federal policing happening on the grounds of these inner cities. I believe that has been the long game the Democrats have been playing,” she added.
“This is why they have been undermining the local police every second. Because they are looking to give more power to the federal government,” Owens continued.
“This is what is happening in Biden’s America and I believe that this is just, really what we’re seeing is just a faster spread toward America shifting towards a federalized police system in this country.”
