A number of prominent individuals have begun demanding that the Biden administration stop covering up the facts about the Jan. 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol.

These individuals range from Fox News hosts Tucker Carlson and Mark Levin to classically liberal, Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald.

Levin, one of the latest to speak up about the Biden administration’s glaring lack of transparency, made the case Saturday on Fox News’ “Life, Liberty and Levin” that at this point, the alleged treatment being faced by Jan. 6th rioters is worse than the treatment currently faced by Guantanamo Bay detainees.

“We’re hearing that they’re in some of the worst jails and that some of them are being put in solitary confinement where they only have an hour where they can go outside. That they’re being fed poor food, they’re being treated like they’re terrorists and in Guantanamo Bay, where they’d be treated actually better,” he said.

“What’s happening to these people, and why is it that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi don’t give a damn? Where are the civil libertarian groups? Where are the media? The truth is that this was not an insurrection, let alone incitement for an insurrection.”

The Jan. 6th riot was, in fact, a standard riot, no different than the dozens of significantly more violent Black Lives Matter riots that erupted across the country last summer, except that the BLM rioters were treated with kid gloves, according to Levin.

“I ask myself, how about Black Lives Matter and Antifa? Who’s rounding them up? Who’s sending swat teams out to get them? They did billions and billions and billions of dollars in damage, looting, arson, assault. People died, and I don’t mean from heart attacks or strokes. I mean died. Police officers assaulted left and right,” he said.

If anything, he continued, the BLM riots were the real insurrection.

“They almost burned down the historic church in Washington, D.C., St. John’s Church. They were trying to charge at the White House. Over 49 United States Park Police were injured. Over 50 Secret Service agents and uniformed agents were injured. … The president of the United States and his family had to be taken to the nuclear bunker under the White House. That’s an insurrection, ladies and gentlemen,” he said.

Yet despite BLM’s violent behavior, whenever a rioter was arrested, left-wing activists in the media would rush to play defense for them and hold the government accountable for any allegedly “unjust” treatment that they faced.

With the Jan. 6th rioters, the reaction has been the opposite, particularly in regard to the fatal shooting of rioter Ashli Babbitt.

“They will not release the name of the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt. Ashli Babbitt wasn’t a threat to anybody. She was in the building. She wasn’t carrying a weapon. She was killed, a veteran of 14 years, a Trump supporter. We don’t get any of the facts. “Who shot her and why was she shot? The police officer’s name is apparently a national security secret,” Levin noted.

But it’s not only that the media are purposefully showing no interest in digging into the facts surrounding the Jan. 6th riot. They’re also attacking those who are willing to do the hard work, including Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.

Carlson raised a number of questions last week about the federal government vis-a-vis the Jan. 6th riot, including whether its informants were involved in plotting it. These questions provoked attacks from the mainstream press.

Responding to these attacks, Glenn Greenwald, a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist who was instrumental in exposing the federal government’s illegal surveillance operations, noted that the Fox News host had a valid point about the government hatching plots.

“This reaction is particularly confounding given how often the FBI did exactly this during the first War on Terror, and how commonplace discussions of this tactic were in mainstream liberal circles,” he wrote in a Substack post.

“Over the last decade, I reported on countless cases for The Guardian and The Intercept where the FBI targeted some young American Muslims they viewed as easily manipulated — due to financial distress, emotional problems, or both — and then deployed informants and undercover agents to dupe them into agreeing to join terrorist plots that had been created, designed and funded by the FBI itself, only to then congratulate themselves for breaking up the plot which they themselves initiated.”

But for some reason, conducting similar investigations into the government’s potential complicity in the Jan. 6th riot is somehow verboten, or says the press. So is expressing even the slightest concern about the fate of the Jan. 6th rioters.

Of course, Levin doesn’t give a damn how the press feels.

“I want to know who it is they’re rounding up, what’s happened to them what they’re being charged with. This information needs to be made public, absolutely made public!” he exclaimed, during Saturday’s show.

Perhaps it eventually will be, though certainly no thanks to the establishment press.
