A House Democratic lawmaker said Tuesday he would not introduce a censure resolution against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) after she apologized for comparing mask and vaccine mandates to anti-Jewish laws in Nazi Germany during the Holocaust.
Greene made her apology Monday after visiting the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, telling reporters: “There is no comparison to the Holocaust and there are words that I have said, remarks that I’ve made that I know are offensive and I want to apologize.”
In a statement, Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.) said that due to Greene’s “long history of unapologetically inflammatory and dangerous rhetoric,” he was “pleasantly surprised to learn that she made the time to visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum (where I have the honor of serving as a trustee), and I appreciate that after her visit she understood the harm of her comparison and offered an apology.”
