Social media users reacted with a combination of mockery and anger at the “family” of world leaders attending the G-7 meeting this weekend after photos of the participants were published in various media.
In particular, users parodied a socially distanced group photo that was taken at Carbis Bay in Cornwall, England featuring: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the front row; with European Council President Charles Michel, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen forming up the rear.
A photo of the group posted on Twitter by Bloomberg’s White House correspondent, Justin Sink, drew the most attention — and not in a good way.

The photo features the distanced group standing awkwardly on an overcast day with the bay in the background and a G-7 sign placed in front as if it were a last-minute addition. Also, the posing of the various members drew comparisons to pop culture films and programming.
“#G7 ‘Action’ Figures: Collect ’em all,” wrote BBC reporter Anthony Zurcher.
“This reboot of The Avengers looks wild,” wrote another.
“Looks like a TV morning exercise show,” quipped Israeli journalist Amichai Stein.
“How does THIS happen in a country world famous for men’s tailoring?” another user posted with a picture of British PM Johnson alone, his hair askance.
“Looks like the start of the hunger games.. may the odds be ever in your favor!” said another.

But several social media users were also disgusted by what appeared to be blatant hypocrisy by G7 “elites” regarding ongoing COVID-19 habits which they seemed to practice in the limelight but relaxed dramatically when the attention wasn’t on them, per se, leading the hashtag “#EnoughIsEnough” to go viral on Twitter.
“No masks, no social distancing, no quarantine before.…. They’ve all come in from other countries. Are you getting it yet? One massive scam on humanity. #EnoughIsEnough,” one user wrote.
Warning: Strong language
The same user followed up: “Sad to see all these braindead, brainwashed people commenting……. If you STILL believe this s**t show and cannot see the scam for what it is after all this time then get the f**k off my feed. I am no longer going to deal with idiots.”

“Nothing says we’re in the middle of a global pandemic like a cocktail party for the elites. #G7 #ThemAndUs #EnoughIsEnough,” another user wrote, featuring a picture of President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden interacting in close contact with Britain’s Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, all without wearing masks.

“We’re being played,” another user wrote in a post that included photos of masked G-7 leaders tapping elbows in some, compared to embracing maskless in others.

“We stayed at home We socially distanced We wore masks We closed businesses We closed schools We didn’t travel We didn’t hug We took the jab And still they want to us to abide by the rules…even though they blatantly ignore some of the rules,” freelancer James Melville added, along with similar photos.

We went through this … and the idea that the government can keep our freedom from us is so terrifying. Some of our states are STILL holding their people hostage here in America.#EnoughISEnough https://t.co/R3JHemN4Ep
