With all the bandwidth consumed by polarized politics-related disputes, sometimes people forget about the more important things closer to home such as family and how most Americans are kind and generous.
Case in point: The Olsen family, and perhaps many others like them who aren’t necessarily in the public eye.
Greg Olsen, the retired NFL tight end and current Fox Sports analyst, shared an inspiring video on social media at the moment in which son TJ told his two siblings that a heart transplant donor had been located for him.
The jubilant duo immediately came over to hug their brother.
“Exactly [one] week ago, the selfless act of a random stranger, our special angel donor, allowed TJ to share this news with his brother and sister. Forever grateful,” Olsen, who played for the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers, and the Seattle Seahawks, wrote in the tweet posted today.

The actual transplant surgery occurred on Friday, June 4, and TJ — who seems to be recuperating very well — provided an update to the online community afterward:
“Hi everybody. Thank you for thinking of me. Thank you for praying with me. Congrats, all of you have gotten a win. We love you guys,” the youngster said.

TJ is real trooper, having gone through multiple surgical procedures already.
“TJ was born in 2012 with a congenital heart defect that required four surgeries, including three open-heart procedures and the installation of a pacemaker,” ESPN reported.
On the day of the surgery, Greg Olsen took to Instagram to write, in part, that “We ask for everyone’s prayers for TJ and his amazing team of doctors and nurses. TJ has a long road ahead of him but today is a huge step forward. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the outpouring of support through this entire journey.”

At the time, Greg Olsen also expressed thanks to the anonymous transplant donor and that person’s family.
“We also want to ask that everyone takes a second to pray for our donor family. Their selflessness during a tragic time gave our boy a chance at life. We don’t know who they are, but we will forever be grateful for every day we get to have with TJ.”

Greg and Kara Olsen have partnered with the Charlotte, North Carolina-based Levine Children’s Hospital for The HEARTest Yard, “to support families of children with congenital heart disease” and they have reportedly donated millions to that charitable initiative.
Greg Olsen was selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami as the 31st overall pick.
Twitter has been following the Olsen family situation, and, in particular, the video featuring the three siblings has prompted a huge response on Twitter. Here is just a representative sample:
Contrary to Garth Brooks song, God’s greatest gifts are indeed answered prayers. May He continue to bless you all and the family of the angel donor. What a special moment between your children. Thank you for sharing.

I think I can safely speak for all Seahawk’s fans when I say, we are beyond happy for you and your family! This could not be better news ever. One huge sigh of relief from the N.W. 🙏👍

That is so awesome! God bless TJ and the rest of your family on this great news. Also may the donor rest in eternal peace knowing what their kind act has brought about. Prayers and best wishes to all.
