Bikini-clad supermodel Emily Ratajkowski takes major heat for posing with baby ‘as a prop’

Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski was called out by Piers Morgan and many others for her baby-holding technique displayed in a series of photos that she posted to her Instagram account on Monday.

“That’s not how you hold a baby @emrata – and your millions of followers shouldn’t be encouraged to do the same. Happy to give you some tips if you need them,” Piers Morgan tweeted to his 7.9 million followers addressing Ratajkowski. The liberal analyst is the father of four children.

Morgan was far from alone in chastising the new mother over holding her 4-month-old baby named Sylvester Apollo as if he were a prop. One commenter mocked the model over her hold on the child: “Gone is the little dog in a handbag, the new accessory is a baby in one arm and wearing candy floss. To show some sort of relationship, matching baby shorts.”

The model was turning 30 and posed in matching swimwear with the awkwardly held child on the eve of her birthday. “Birthday eve with the dream vacation partner,” the star captioned the photo which was meant for her more than 27.6 million followers on Instagram.

The blowback was so intense that the model eventually disabled comments on the post.

Conservative pundit Matt Walsh had a message for the new mother: “Someone teach this chick how to hold a baby please.” One commenter replied to that statement: “she is so self absorbed that she is literally using the baby as a prop for this photo. she holds the baby to her side so her body is the center of attention. these people make me sick.”

Although the model had many critics, some were not so quick to judge. Yahoo Life writer Korin Miller went so far as to call criticism of the young mother “mom-shaming.”

Ratajkowski has come under fire before concerning motherhood. When she announced that she was pregnant in 2020 via Vogue, she declared that the child would be gender-fluid and that they “wouldn’t “know the [baby’s] gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then.” Ratajkowsi justified her stance saying that gender is “more complex than whatever genitalia our child might be born with” and that both she and her husband were intent on focusing on “who — rather than what — is growing inside my belly.”

The politically correct stance did not seem to last, however. In March, she posted another picture to Instagram as she was breastfeeding and captioned it “beautiful boy.”

“Correct me if im wrong but wasn’t your baby gender neutral?” one fan asked. “Did you just misgender your baby?” wrote another.

Others defended the model: “She can do whatever she wants to! It’s her baby.”

Ratajkowski also made headlines earlier this year when she made comments on free speech concerning Big Tech and former President Trump following the Jan. 6 riot: “Anyone else feel like proper amount of capital [sic] police being absent/letting Trump people in/providing insane visuals of MAGA dudes on the floor of the house was wildly convenient to justifying big tech’s rollout of censorship?” Ratajkowski noted on Twitter to her 1.5 million followers at the time.

“This gives Facebook/tech/Zuck THE MOST POWER. If he can shut the president up/off he can shut any of us up/off,” she also stated in a follow-up tweet.

The supermodel received a ton of criticism on Twitter over her baby-hold:
