In the event you heard loud cheers erupt on Thursday from the direction of Michigan, you may want to start looking for your noisemakers to join in the jubilance.

On Thursday, a Michigan court ruled that recall petitions against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer can proceed.

Whitmer attempted to squash the petitions when she argued that they did not “adequately describe the authorities cited as reasons for the recall.” Her counsel also argued that “she was only identified by name and title in the petition form where it called for it but [it] did not repeat the name and title within the wording of the reason for the recall.”

However, Judges Kathleen Jansen and Michael Gadola of the Michigan Court of Appeals will allow the petitions to proceed and specifically rejected the latter argument as “unpersuasive.” Their ruling indicates that the Board of State Canvassers “correctly” approved the petitions including one against Whitmer and one against Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist

“We plan to appeal this disappointing decision, and we fully intend to beat back these irresponsible partisan attacks against the governor in the courts, on the streets, or at the ballot. This is part of a massive and coordinated attack by Republicans trying to make the governor fail, and our campaign will strenuously oppose these efforts so the governor can keep saving lives, reopening our economy, and creating jobs,” said Whitmer’s campaign spokesperson Mark Fisk.

This may come as a surprise to Whitmer but she may be the only one disappointed in the decision. People appear to be tired of her hypocritical rule and seemingly elitist attitude. Online comments in support of the governor were scarce, while comments eager for her departure dominated.

At least one person appears to be so amped about the petitions that they may write a liberty-based wrap song.

I think i signed one of those petitions. On another note iv been trying to write a liberty based rap song, it’s gonna take a while though as what i normally write is like Eminem or ICP combined with Metallica

Several others have also expressed feelings that maybe Whitmer shouldn’t call the Governor’s Mansion home.

These feelings are likely due to the several instances of apparent COVID infractions that Whitmer has racked up, among other failed policies, as she has continued to impose what many believe are the most strict COVID restrictions on her peasants, er, constituents.

Just last weekend she was seen flouting her own COVID restrictions in the Landshark Bar & Grill, a dive bar in East Lansing, where she and several others were seen sitting within the six-foot bubble required by her own restrictions and they were not wearing their requisite masks either. But don’t worry, she apologized.

In March she disappeared from Michigan and flew to Florida, just after warning Michigan residents to avoid traveling to warmer climates. This may have gone over better if she had said she went to Florida to learn from Gov. Ron DeSantis on how to be a real governor. Instead, she explained that she flew to the state on a private jet during spring break to help her father.

She will have some company as she faces her potential recall. California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom will also be facing recall after state officials announced more than 1,626,000 verified signatures were gathered, far exceeding the 1,495,709 signatures required to trigger the recall vote.
