Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) appeared on ‘Fox & Friends’ Wednesday and bluntly stated that universities are staffed with insane teachers who can’t be terminated “unless they murder three people.”
Rubio noted that the University of Central Florida (UCF) shouldn’t be doling out social justice certificates because it’s just “another way to tear apart capitalism and the American way of life.” That comment was apparently in reference to the school’s Graduate Certificate in Social Justice in Public Service. “No, I don’t think we should be teaching that,” Rubio adamantly stated during the interview.
The senator went on to describe the method of social justice teaching as one that posits the “whole system has to be torn down, including capitalism and replaced with something else — that’s what they call social justice. That’s the brand and that’s the name they’ve created for it but what it really is, is it’s neo-Marxism … it is another way to tear apart capitalism and the American way of life.”
He argued that colleges should be teaching students “the skills they need to find a good-paying job and contribute to their community, their families, and their country in the 21st century. That’s why we have universities, that’s why we have college degrees. Not to train a generation of cultural Marxist activists. But to train people so they can go out and find jobs that are good for them, good for their family, and good for the country.”

He also wondered out loud why taxpayers “should be subsidizing teaching our young students how to hate America, how to hate everything about our history, how to divide and hate one another, and how our identity is not American but the color of our skin. Why we should be spending taxpayer money to teach these things that are destructive, not to mention untrue, is beyond me. I don’t understand why that is happening and I hope it’s corrected.”
After that, Rubio excoriated universities for having staffs “filled with just crazy people who know you can’t even fire them unless they murder three people.”
The University of Central Florida describes its social justice program glowingly and claims “students will be exposed to principles of social justice as they apply to government and the nonprofit sector in education, health, environment, transportation, and housing policy domains among others.”
They are far from alone. The practice has spread across the nation and parents are hotly fighting it. For instance, two university professors from Roosevelt University in Illinois were caught openly talking on a Zoom call last April bragging that they taught social justice ideology based on Marxism in their classrooms. The National Basketball Association has also established a Social Justice Coalition.
“I mean, it’s all social justice. All day, every day, I get to talk about the things I love. I’m really living the life over here,” Gina Harris, an adjunct education professor who teaches “middle school theory and practice,” answered when asked how she liked teaching at the school.
