“Friends” star Matthew Perry is in hot water with some of his fans after promoting a COVID T-shirt that riffs on a line from character Chandler Bing asking: “Could I be any more vaccinated?”
Perry posted a pic of himself wearing the T-shirt on both Twitter and Instagram with the caption: “Could I BE Any More Vaccinated? Get your shot and then get your shirt. Shop the entire collection at http://represent.com/matthewperry Only available for a limited time.” A number of people called him “insensitive” for profiting off the pandemic by linking it to the iconic show’s reunion.
“Making money from a t-shirt relating to vaccines is in bad taste. Could I BE any more annoyed,” responded one fan. Another was even blunter, “i love you but this tshirt is not it haha.” One bitterly stated, “Just propaganda machines for life huh? That’s all celebs are anymore.”
Cast member Jennifer Aniston “liked” Perry’s marketing effort on Instagram. But a handful of fans seemed to take offense, with one asking: “Why would I give a multi millionaire even more money?” Another commented: “They are monetizing their sudden rise in popularity because of the reunion. Just capitalism at work here, nothing new.” One fan ripped into the star stating: “Don’t be that guy who tells people what to inject into them. Please.”

The T-shirt sells for $26.99 and is a limited edition, unisex fitted shirt. It can be purchased at Perry’s Represent.com online store. A description of the shirt on the site proclaims: “Now back out into the world!!….or stay in and binge-watch Friends again! :)”
The new online store debuted as the trailer for the “Friends: The Reunion” special prepares to hit the internet. The show will premiere on Thursday, May 27, on HBO Max. The store carries merchandise such as sweatshirts, as well as items catering to children and pets. It also features a sweatshirt that quips: “Could I be more ME?”
It’s been seventeen years since the hit show ended. The stars were asked what their characters might be up to currently:
“I always just feel like Monica would be doing something competitively with other mothers and trying to outdo them. Whether it’s the bake sale at school or something. I mean, she’d be so annoying. She’d be at the head of the PTA or something,” actress Courteney Cox said to People.
Chandler “would be a wonderful father,” Perry noted.
“Joey would have opened a chain of sandwich shops,” claimed Matt LeBlanc.
“And eaten all the sandwiches,” snarked Perry.
Aniston stated that her character, Rachel, “would like to have maybe started a clothing line.”
The reunion show will bring together the cast including David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow. There will also be special guests in attendance.

Reaction to Perry’s T-shirt pitch was mixed on social media. A few hated it, but many others loved it:

Good for you Mathew… Anything that brings awareness to this effort is priceless. If you can make a buck or two, so be it. You’ve done many things that benefit others. Thank you!

I'm baffled by how upset ppl are. I'm not and we lost ppl to covid in our family. I think it promotes vaccination which saves lives and helps let those around us know we're vaccinated not anti mask when we're ready to go maskless. All good messages.

I love this. I’ve been looking for a way that people know I’m vaccinated instead of looking at me like I’m on the FBI’s most wanted list. I don’t know why there is such a problem over this. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Suffered from it and got vaccinated and I approve this shirt, anyone claiming it’s profiting off other people’s struggle are just reaching for excuses to hate on someone who is more successful than them, no different than people making masks only difference is he’s rich
