“Woke,” far-left Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is reportedly being given the “silent treatment” by China’s top military leaders for reasons that remain unclear.
“The military relationship is strained, no question about that. It’s hard to know how much this is reflective of that strain as much as it is just Chinese intransigence. But we certainly want to have a dialogue. We just want to make sure we have a dialogue at the proper level,” an anonymous U.S. defense official told Reuters on Friday.
But this “dialogue” is being denied.
“The Chinese military has not been responsive,” another anonymous U.S. defense official told the Financial Times.
“Austin … has made three requests to speak to General Xu Qiliang, vice-chair of the Central Military Commission and a politburo member who is China’s most senior military officer. But China has refused to engage, according to three people briefed on the impasse,” according to the Times.
All this comes as the military continues to grow more “woke” and “diverse” under Austin’s leadership, allegedly even at the expense of its actual military readiness.

“Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin … and President Biden are turning our military into a ‘woke’ force,” former H.W. Bush era Deputy Undersecretary of Defense Jed Babbin warned last month.
As just one example, he pointed to the White House’s 2021 “Interim National Security Strategic Guidance,” which he noted was likely written by Austin.
The problem, Babbin wrote for The Washington Times, is that instead of offering guidance on anything substantive such as Russian, Iranian and Chinese aggression, the document was laden with PC nonsense.
“In its 24 pages, the ‘Guidance’ mentions climate change more than a dozen times, as well as racial justice and LGBTQI+ rights. It’s little more than a politically correct list of things the president wants to address such as the COVID-19 pandemic, racial injustice and climate change,” he explained.
“It gives us nothing that could qualify as national security strategic guidance other than stating Mr. Biden’s desire to strengthen alliances and use diplomacy instead of military power.”
Babbin added, “Mr. Biden’s ‘woke’ military will focus on politics, not lethality and readiness. It will excel in virtue signaling and fail at winning battles and wars.”
That’s indeed the same thought that Sen. Ted Cruz had when last week the military released an incredibly “woke” ad that looked and sounded nothing like the genuinely tough military ads used by the Russian military:
Holy crap.
Perhaps a woke, emasculated military is not the best idea…. https://t.co/8aVFMW98NM
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) May 20, 2021
While the tweet above provoked massive backlash on social media from the mainstream left — including congressional Democrats and their media allies — the evidence suggests most Americans feel similarly to Cruz.
One piece of evidence is another “woke” advertisement published on YouTube by the Army earlier this month. According to the Army Times, the military wound up disabling comments for the video because of all the backlash.
“Beginning May 12 we started noticing a significant uptick in negative commentary. The comments violated our social media policy and were not aligned with Army values. Out of respect for the safety and wellbeing of our soldiers and their families, we have disabled the comments,” an Army official told the military news outlet.

All this also comes as the military faces increasing “directed energy microwave weapon” attacks from foreign powers.
“Republican and Democratic lawmakers are demanding answers about who is responsible for what a growing consensus of experts believe are targeted attacks on U.S. diplomats and national security officials using pulse microwave energy that many now believe was used as a weapon to harm American citizens,” Fox News reported at the start of the month.
“Senators Mark Warner and Marco Rubio, the top Republican and Democrats heading the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued a stern statement acknowledging for the first time US officials had been ‘attacked,’ suggesting the attacks are ongoing and ‘increasing.'”
Responding to this news, one clever reader hanging out in the comments section of The Daily Wire sarcastically wrote, “Our super woke intelligence agencies will get to the bottom of this just as soon as they solve the mystery of which bathroom they should use.”

The reader’s point was that America’s institutions — including the government — have become so obsessed with being “woke” that they’ve lost sight of their true purposes.
Meanwhile, as China’s been busy snubbing America’s “woke” defense secretary, it’s also been busy promising the world that the United States “will be defeated” if it ever dares go up against the Chinese Communist Party.
“The US does not have China’s momentum for development and lacks the spirit of seeking truth from facts. It will definitely be unable to compete with China’s speed in development,” the editor-in-chief of China’s state-run newspaper, the Global Times, confidently asserted in a report last week titled “The US cannot defeat China.”
