‘Speaker Maskhole’ strikes again, Pelosi mingles maskless at WH after double-down on mandate

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) went maskless at a White House event on Thursday, freely mingling with House members even though she has doubled down on enforcing her mask mandate on the House floor.

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene called Pelosi “Speaker Maskhole” as she received a second warning letter for not wearing a mask on the floor.

“I now have 2 letters for not wearing a mask on the House floor. This discriminatory unconstitutional act of hypocrisy says: 1st fine – $500. 2nd fine – $2,500. Meanwhile, Speaker Maskhole enjoys the mask-free super spreader events at the White House,” Greene snarked on Twitter.

Greene also called the Speaker “mentally ill” over the mandate: “This woman is mentally ill,” Greene stated on Real America’s Voice. “You know, we can look back at a time in history when people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany. And this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about.”

Other Republicans are also crying foul and decrying Pelosi as a hypocrite for flaunting her own rules. As she ditches her mask, others are being subject to $500 fines for not complying. The representatives who have received warnings also include Ralph Norman from South Carolina, Thomas Massie from Kentucky, and Lauren Boebert from Colorado, all Republicans.

Despite new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Pelosi is ignoring the science and is not budging except, of course, when it comes to Democrat gatherings. Republicans are incensed at the double standard and see it as harassment.

“This is the definition of hypocrisy,” Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) told “Fox and Friends” Friday. Green is a veteran, a West Point graduate, and a doctor. He is one of a number of GOP lawmakers who were fined $500 this week for refusing to wear a mask on the House floor.

“Leadership 101 at West Point for me 35 years ago, the first thing they teach you is you never ask people to do something you as the leader aren’t willing to do,” Green commented. “And here she is in the House at the speaker’s rostrum, not wearing a mask. She goes to the White House, not wearing a mask.”

Green is accusing Pelosi of ignoring the science: “It’s just harassment, basically,” he said.

During an East Room celebration that marked the signing of a COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act into law with President Biden on Thursday, Pelosi decided to not mask up. Apparently, other Democrats didn’t either as they shmoozed, hugged, and mingled at the event. There was no social distancing either.

“Just watched a video of Nancy Pelosi not wearing a mask in a crowded room despite fining her GOP colleagues for following the science & no longer wearing the mask!” former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted on Thursday.

“For those interested in Pelosi’s mask hypocrisy, ENJOY,” McEnany said, sharing a link to a video of Pelosi at the event.

“Despite fining House members who don’t wear masks, Nancy Pelosi wears no mask while walking through a maskless crowd,” the Republican National Committee (RNC) Research also tweeted.

Representative Thomas Massie chimed in as well: “Meanwhile, @SpeakerPelosi fined me and @RepMTG and @RepBrianMast and other republicans $500 for not wearing a mask in the House chamber this week. Hypocrite!” Massie proclaimed.

It should be noted that the White House claims that everyone there was tested and/or vaccinated. Pelosi’s spokesperson stated that, according to official White House guidance, fully vaccinated members would not be required to wear masks or observe social distancing during the event. Non-vaccinated guests were required to wear masks and distance themselves from others.

“The Speaker was required to attest to her vaccination status and required to submit a negative test result in order to attend this event,” Drew Hammill, Pelosi’s spokesperson informed Fox News.

The new CDC guidelines state that fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear a mask in most settings. The White House proceeded to lift its mask mandate, but the House of Representatives did not. Pelosi is now allowing members to take their masks off when they are speaking on the floor but otherwise, they are required to keep one on. The Senate has no such mask rule.

Pelosi and the Capitol Attending Physician Dr. Brian Monahan have declared that the mask mandate will stay in place until all House members are fully vaccinated: “We have a responsibility to make sure that the House of the Representatives Chamber is not a petri dish because of the selfishness of some not to be vaccinated,” Pelosi proclaimed on Thursday.
