A joint White House press conference Friday with President Joe Biden and South Korean President Moon Jae-in ended with an unusual question being posed to the president and an even more unusual answer being offered in reply.

After Biden said his usual “thank you” after fielding some questions, Fox News’s Peter Doocy abruptly asked him whether he had “time for one more.”

“If you’re not asking me a mean one like you usually do,” the president initially replied, prompting some laughter from the mainstream press.

By “mean one,” he meant a tough question instead of the relatively easy ones that are usually asked of him by members of the mainstream press.

“It’s actually something interesting — I think — that has not come up. President Obama says,” Doocy began asking as Biden burst into brief laughter, “that there is footage and records of objects in the skies, these unidentified aerial phenomenon. And he says, ‘We don’t know exactly what they are.’ What do you think that it is?”

In response, Biden said, “I would ask him again.”

He then issued another “thank you” and walked off with Moon as members of the mainstream media burst into laughter and applause.

The question was certainly unusual, though not unfitting with the times. During an appearance Tuesday on CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” former President Barack Obama shared his thoughts on unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

“Look, the truth is that when I came into office, I asked [about UFOs]. I was like, ‘All right, is there the lab somewhere where we’re keeping the alien specimens and spaceships?’ They did a little bit of research … and the answer was, ‘No,'” he said.

“But what is true — and I’m actually being serious here — is that there’s footage and records of objects in the skies that we don’t know exactly what they are. We can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory … they did not have an easily explainable pattern. So I think that people still take seriously trying to investigate and figure out what that is. But I have nothing to report to you today,” he added.

Listen:

And so Doocy’s question had merit, which raises the question of why Biden found it so funny — and why, further, members of the mainstream press were so gleeful, both during and after the presser, over the president’s response.

“Biden had the last laugh when Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked about aliens way, *way* north of the border – and beyond,” The Wrap gleefully reported afterward.

“You ask President Joe Biden a dopey question, you’re gonna get an equally dopey answer,” the left-wing news site added.

But was it truly a “dopey question?”

UFOs have frequently been in the news lately, with a number of prominent Democrat Party figures, from former President Obama to former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, weighing in on the topic.

In fact, Reid penned a whole column for The New York Times about the phenomenon that, incidentally, was published the same day that Doocy asked Biden about the matter.

“The truth, disappointing as it may be, is that there’s still a great deal we don’t understand. It’s unclear whether the U.F.O.s we have encountered could have been built by foreign adversaries, whether our pilots’ visual perception during some encounters was somehow distorted, or whether we truly have credible evidence of extraterrestrial visitations. There may be other, as yet unknown explanations for some of these strange sightings,” Reid wrote.

Yet the column certainly didn’t provoke the same giddiness as Doocy’s related line of questioning. If anything, it inspired praise from mainstream “reporters”:

Sen. Marco Rubio has also been speaking out about UFOs, but the reactions to his points have been mostly negative — surprise, surprise — with Democrats in particular relentlessly mocking him for daring to broach the topic.

Case in point:

Some “journalists” have also attacked Rubio:

So are these Democrats and “journalists” also going to attack Obama and Reid? And if not, then why?
