Because of the mainstream media’s sycophancy, White House press secretary Jen Psaki genuinely believes that nobody is concerned about President Joe Biden’s decision to “gift” the Russians with a pipeline even as he eliminates a pipeline here at home.

During a White House press briefing Thursday, Fox News’ Peter Doocy tried to address this matter with Psaki, but she made it clear from the get-go that she doesn’t even consider it a serious matter, likely in part because neither does the mainstream press.

“I know that there’s a lot of talk about Nord Stream and Keystone, and I’m just trying to help people understand,” Doocy’s line of questioning began.

“Is there?” Psaki then dismissively asked.

According to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, there sure as hell is.

Look:

He was right.

Earlier this week the Biden administration announced that it plans to waive sanctions on the corporate entity and CEO of the company overseeing the construction of this Russian pipeline, Nord Stream 2. The CEO is Matthias Warnig, a reported crony of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In response to this announcement, Pulitizer Prize-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald, a man generally loathed by the mainstream establishment press, decried the move as “a huge gift to Putin.”

Others, including Cruz, slammed Democrats for suddenly kowtowing to the interests of Russia after having spent four years smearing former President Donald Trump as a Russian operative:

Critics also drew attention to the fact that during his first day in office, the president had revoked the construction permit for the domestic Keystone XL oil pipeline, thus destroying thousands of American jobs.

“So Biden is about to waive sanctions to clear the way for the NordStream 2 Pipeline, which will make Russia very rich and bring them jobs, BUT he killed the Keystone Pipeline which would give Americans jobs. That’s something a Russian asset would do,” freshman Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert tweeted.

Look:

Even the editorial board of The Wall Street Journal took notice of the shocking dichotomy.

“As one of his first official acts, Mr. Biden shut down the Keystone XL pipeline that would improve U.S. energy security. He is treating a pipeline that increases Russian influence and income better than one that enhances America’s,” the board wrote.

The only people who didn’t notice were the members of the mainstream press, who certainly reported the news on Nord Stream 2, but who conveniently neglected to draw the obvious connection to the Keystone XL pipeline.

And so in Psaki’s defense, it appears she was genuinely shocked when Doocy dared to question her about the link during Thursday’s briefing.

As for the media, there’s little doubt in critics’ mind of what the news coverage would have looked like had Trump done the same as Biden:

But luckily for the Biden administration, President Biden is not former President Trump. And more importantly, members of the media are virtually all Democrats with a vested interest in propping up the administration’s every move.
