Adam Sandler surprises IHOP waitress who embarrassingly turned him away in viral video

Actor and comedian Adam Sandler surprised a young IHOP waitress at an all-you-can-drink milkshake event in Long Island on Monday after she had embarrassingly turned him away because she didn’t recognize him behind his face mask.

Sandler reunited with Dayanna Rodas after she sent out a viral TikTok video showing the previous encounter with the caption: “Pleaseee come back.”

She went on to explain: “Not realizing its Adam Sandler and telling him its a 30min wait and him [of course] leaving [because] hes not going to wait 30mins for IHOP.”

She later noted: “It wasn’t until a customer walked in about 15 minutes later saying, ‘Adam Sandler was outside,’ when I realized I spoke to Adam Sandler!”

Rodas informed Sandler, who had brought his daughter in to have a meal, that the lines were very long and he would have to wait. At that point, Sandler quietly left with his daughter rather than waiting forever to be seated. The comedian was praised for not pulling the “star card” during the encounter.

As the video went viral, it got noticed by the former “Saturday Night Live” star and he snarked on Twitter that he left the restaurant because they told him “the all-you-can-eat deal didn’t apply to the milkshakes.”

IHOP capitalized on the video’s popularity and announced Friday that they were offering all-you-can-drink milkshakes at its Long Island locations on Monday. That enticed Sandler to accept the teenage waitress’s invitation to come back on May 10.

Rodas compiled a new video on TikTok showing her outside the restaurant next to a huge number of milkshakes. It then showed her with Sandler in several snapshots as they enjoyed hanging out together and having fun during the event.

Both of them wore IHOP face masks and posed with other people in the parking lot. Sandler was in his usual casual clothing, wearing a red t-shirt, yellow shorts, and brown boots. He even brought his bulldog to IHOP.

“Couldn’t have been more excited!! Thank you Adam Sandler!” Rodas gushed in her latest video.

Sandler actually helped out with a worthy cause during his visit to IHOP. The Milkshake Monday event donated a dollar to the nonprofit Comedy Gives Back for every milkshake sold (up to $50,000).

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sandler performed with Laugh Aid in 2020 to help comedians who were affected by the pandemic.

“Thank u IHOP for Milkshake Monday,” Sandler tweeted, showing a photo of his bulldog licking its chops. It is unknown if the pup ever got a milkshake or not during the event.

“We take our guests’ suggestions very seriously in an effort to continually shake things up and satisfy all palettes with our signature commitment to IHOSPITALITY,” Kieran Donahue, IHOP’s CMO quipped in a statement. “There is no better way to kick off the week and enjoy our craveable menu than with a house-made milkshake, or as many as you can drink.”
