New conservative leaders promise to stand up for fiscal sanity in Washington

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

Democrats in Washington are once again looking to ram another budget busting bill through Congress. While this one is ostensibly being presented to the American public as “infrastructure,” in reality it is nothing more than another wish list of progressive policies and crony political payoffs.

Only a small fraction of the over $2 trillion plan would go towards infrastructure. The rest will go towards creating new government programs and new entitlements such as “tuition-free” college and “free” child-care. At a time when the U.S. government is already running record deficits and spending money faster than they can print it, the last thing our country needs is a radical expansion of the welfare state. Meanwhile, the “woke” politicians say, “Don’t ask how we’re going to pay for it.”  It’s almost rhetorical because we all know how and who will pay for it.

Fortunately, a new class of Republican Freshman have arrived just in time to fight Biden’s big spending agenda. Conservative leaders like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and Madison Cawthorn have taken the Capitol by storm and made it clear that they will no longer go along with the big spending policies that members of both political parties have been guilty of supporting over the last twenty years.

In March, for example, when Nancy Pelosi tried to ram through the $1.9 trillion so-called COVID relief bill in the dead of night, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was there to hold members accountable. She led the party’s effort to block the bill by calling a vote on the “Motion to Proceed,” marshaling 149 Republicans in support of her efforts. By significantly slowing down the proceedings, Congresswoman Greene was also able to show that much of the bill had nothing to do with COVID relief and she was able bring to the light of day some of the most egregious pieces of the pork spending in the bill, including $50 million for Planned Parenthood and $1.5 billion for Amtrak.

The fact of the matter is these conservative leaders represent the true spirit of America. They are not afraid to speak truth to power, unlike many of the other swamp elites in Washington who are more concerned with appeasing special interests than they are with representing their constituents, much less America.

As President Biden continues to issue job-killing Green New Deal executive orders, Representative Boebert has pushed back, taking on the climate lobby and standing up not just for her constituents but also on behalf of energy workers and energy consumers all across America. Meanwhile, as Democrats continue to their efforts to tear down President Trump’s border wall – despite the hordes of migrants flooding the southern border – Congressman Cawthorn recently said enough is enough and introduced the “Donument” Act to designate the southern border wall as a national monument and protect it from further alteration or destruction.

Radical progressives in Washington such as Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and the Squad, are working night and day to undermine many of the principles that our country was built upon. Along with their allies at mainstream media cancel culture outlets they have tried to marginalize conservative leaders, and have even, it appears, launched a coordinated effort to expel one of them from Congress.

Now even corporations are targeting conservative leaders, promising not to donate to them in an attempt at faux virtue signaling. Well, if the future of the Republican party is going to be singled out like this, then all Republicans must band together and unite against these wannabe woke companies. This is a call for unity for the cause of freedom and the American way of life that requires “All hands on deck.”

At the end of the day America needs all its patriots to join Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and Madison Cawthorn who are committed to this American Idea. Yes, this transcends party interests and is not about Democrats or Republicans, it’s what’s right so this Democratic Republic will thrive once again.

As Benjamin Franklin was quoted as saying when asked by an interested woman what kind of government the Constitutional convention created.  And his answer continues to echo through the generations, “A republic if you can keep it.” Was he aware then that the antithetical forces of Marxism, communism, socialism, etc. were lingering nearby? Or did he understand the nature of man’s ability to forget?

Here we are over 240 years later, and it’s as if we have forgotten all the great things our country has done for our citizens and the citizens of the world. And of course the “wokists” are quick to remind us of our sins. Yes, we are all fallen, not one is perfect. But I believe it’s because of these grievous sins and God’s mercy that give us hope to keep fighting and inspiring each other to that “perfect Union.”

As the Biden Administration looks to continue their campaign to spend the United States into bankruptcy with this new infrastructure bill backed by his radical progressive allies in Congress, it will be these patriots and others who will fight to bring fiscal sanity back to Washington. Even in the best of times this would be an uphill battle, so we must get behind them and support them in their efforts.
