Biden pushes wearing masks despite being vaccinated: ‘It’s a patriotic responsibility for God’s sake’

President Joe Biden is continuing to wear a mask outdoors despite advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention because he contends it’s a “patriotic responsibility” and a “small precaution.”

Biden wore a mask as he approached the podium outside last week to give a press briefing addressing new CDC guidelines on the coronavirus. He was asked what kind of message he was sending and replied that Americans should watch him “take it off and not put it back on until I get inside.” The president continued to wear a mask outdoors to a number of events.

Anita Dunn, a senior advisor in the Biden administration, spoke on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday and defensively said that the President is wearing a mask outside as an “extra precaution.” She previously made headlines by stating that “COVID is the best thing that ever happened” to Biden.

“You know, we do take some extra precautions for him because he is the President of the United States,” claimed Dunn when she was asked why Biden “doesn’t seem to be following” the new CDC guidance.

She proclaimed that Biden takes health officials’ advice “very seriously.”

“I myself found that I was still wearing my mask outdoors this week because it has become such a matter of habit. I think the President takes the CDC guidelines very seriously, and he’s always taken his role as sending a signal to follow the science, very seriously as well,” Dunn added.

Last week, the CDC announced that Americans who have been vaccinated can forgo masks outside unless they are attending large gatherings. According to the CDC, fully vaccinated individuals can unmask at small outdoor gatherings or while they are dining outside with friends from multiple households. Unvaccinated people are advised to still cover their faces.

Even though Biden is continuing to wear a mask outdoors, Americans are being told they can comfortably follow the CDC’s new guidelines.

“I would say that people should follow the CDC guidelines and they should take advantage of getting the vaccine, getting fully vaccinated and taking that mask off, particularly as the weather grows so beautiful,” Dunn remarked. “It’s a lot more fun to take that outside walk without a mask.”

“As we move forward I think that you will see more and more people enjoying that freedom, getting the vaccine, and realizing it’s one big step towards normalcy in this country,” she added.

Biden proceeded to justify wearing a mask outdoors on the “Today” show by saying, “It’s a patriotic responsibility for God’s sake.”

When the President was elected, he asked Americans to wear masks for 100 more days. Now he is claiming it is a “patriotic responsibility” for Americans to wear masks outdoors seemingly indefinitely, whether they are vaccinated or not. On the other hand, his aides are telling Americans to follow the CDC guidelines.

Republican Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas, who is a physician, is warning the Biden administration over stigmatizing those who don’t wear masks: “It is America. Everybody has an individual right. I think that one of the things we have to be careful about is not shaming people or talking down to them or objecting to their way of life,” Marshall said on CNN’s “Newsroom” Saturday.

He pointed out that many Americans are confused over masks and the guidelines: “They’ve been told they don’t need a mask. They need a mask. They’ve been told that even if you have a vaccine, you have to keep wearing the mask,” Marshall commented.

President Biden seems to be furthering that confusion.
