Megyn Kelly warns school leaders pushing racial agenda: You too ‘can get fired for this insanity’

Independent journalist Megyn Kelly seems to be sending a message that the departure of a woke headmaster at an elite Manhattan private school could be a teachable moment, as it were.

In reacting to the news that Jim Best is leaving the Dalton School, an Ivy League feeder institution, to pursue “other opportunities,” the former Fox News and NBC Today show anchor offered this analysis on Twitter.

A warning to all Heads of School determined to re-racialize their schools & shove Critical Race Theory down the throats of their students: if the head of Dalton can get fired for this insanity, so can you. Stop the hateful division.”

In January, a group of Dalton parents who preferred to remain anonymous wrote a letter that condemned the obsessive emphasis on social justice issues at the expense of sound academics.

The gradually increasing number of parents and teachers who object to divisive critical race theory– which has unfortunately gained currency throughout the education system as well as in corporate America — maintain that using schools as a platform for smearing one group and creating resentment among another is hardly a path toward actual inclusiveness and runs counter to the goals of the civil rights movement.

Moreover, guilt by association, or collective guilt, has never been part of the American tradition.

Late last year, Megyn Kelly revealed that she was pulling her own kids from another pricey NYC private school because of its racially charged atmosphere that essentially focuses on cosmetic diversity.

Elsewhere in the Big Apple, an outraged parent has taken another prep school, which charges $54,000 a year in tuition, to task for the way it’s allegedly trying to brainwash his 12-year-old daughter with progressive propaganda.

His letter to other Brearley School parents went viral after ex-New York Times editorial writer and free speech advocate Bari Weiss published it on her Substack page.

Andrew Gutmann told parents that he won’t be re-enrolling his daughter in the school and explained why as part of a 1,700 word missive.

I cannot tolerate a school that not only judges my daughter by the color of her skin, but encourages and instructs her to prejudge others by theirs. By viewing every element of education, every aspect of history, and every facet of society through the lens of skin color and race, we are desecrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and utterly violating the movement for which such civil rights leaders believed, fought, and died…

If Brearley’s administration was truly concerned about so-called “equity,” it would be discussing the cessation of admissions preferences for legacies, siblings, and those families with especially deep pockets. If the administration was genuinely serious about “diversity,” it would not insist on the indoctrination of its students, and their families, to a single mindset, most reminiscent of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Instead, the school would foster an environment of intellectual openness and freedom of thought…

Celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, Chelsea Clinton, Tina Fey, and Steve Martin, reportedly send their daughters to the Upper East Side school.

In response to the letter, the head of school claimed Gutmann’s letter was “deeply offensive and harmful” and made some students feel frightened.

“The upper schoolers are afraid of getting a letter at their home?” Gutmann wondered to the New York Post. “They’re frightened and intimidated? The school has said its number one priority is to teach the girls intellectual bravery and courageousness. Either they are lying or else they have done an atrocious job.”

Gutmann also implied that he has concerns that his daughter might be kicked out rather than allowed to finish out the sixth grade.

Weiss has separately posted an essay from a New York City math teacher working in another elite private school who wrote in part, at the risk of his job, that “my school is asking me to embrace ‘antiracism’ training and pedagogy that I believe is deeply harmful to [students].

On the opposite coast, a school where liberal Hollywood movers and shakers often send their kids has also allegedly been overtaken by what some parents are apparently calling “woke weaning.”

“The school always had a robust attitude towards diversity – heck, that’s why I chose to send my child there,” an entertainment executive who sends her child to the $43,000 per year Harvard-Westlake allegedly told the Daily Mail.

“There is a growing group of parents who are desperately unhappy with how things are going. But we talk in secret. I’d rather be called a murderer in Hollywood than a racist,” she added.

“I have no problem with the school introducing more diversity into the curriculum but our children are being taught there’s something wrong with Shakespeare because he’s an old white man. I marched in the Black Lives Matter protests last summer but I have a problem with teachers telling my son that America is a bad country and that, because he is white, he is, by definition, a racist.”

A-listers like Steven Spielberg, Kate Beckinsale, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington and others enrolled their children in the school.

Identity politics gone wild is not just an elitist east coast-west coast phenomenon. CRT has found its way to jurisdictions like Loudoun County, Va., as well, among other school districts.
