Georgia Dem gun control supporter Warnock paid more than $100G for ‘executive level’ private security

Georgia Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock has voiced his strong support for President Joe Biden’s calls for more gun control in recent weeks, though his campaign spent in excess of $100,000 on “security services” from a private firm as recently as February, according to reports Friday.

Federal Election Commission filings released this week indicate that Warnock’s campaign paid out $60,956 to Executive Protection Agencies, an Atlanta-based private security firm, during a time frame spanning January and early February.

In addition, his campaign laid out $76,000 in private protection services last fall, according to FEC records.

The vast majority of Americans can’t afford such a luxury, but that hasn’t stopped Warnock from calling for stricter gun laws that would make it more difficult, especially for poorer Americans, to obtain firearms for self-defense.

According to the company’s website, the firm provides executive-level protection that features a “keen eye with a thorough knowledge of the venue through threat assessment” for all clients. In all, Fox News reported Warnock’s campaign laid out $169,000 for protective services since last fall, and that no one from the campaign responded to requests for comment.

Meantime, Warnock, who is in his first term, has been a staunch proponent of new “reasonable gun control,” pushing for new measures following last month’s shooting in the Atlanta area that left eight people dead.

In a recent interview with “Meet the Press,” Warnock was critical of the state’s GOP-controlled legislature in asking how the “shooter was able to kill all of these folks the same day he purchased a firearm.”

Warnock, who has been a pastor at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta where Martin Luther King Jr. once preached, told the NBC newsmagazine the shooting “suggests a distortion in values when you can buy a gun and create this much carnage and violence on the same day, but if you want to exercise your right to vote as an American citizen, the same legislature that should be focused on this is busy erecting barriers.”

The Democratic senator has a history of lamenting about guns and has lashed out at legislation that supports Americans’ Second Amendment rights. In 2014, he ridiculed “Stand Your Ground” laws during a sermon, calling it a “shoot first and ask questions later” law.

“You’ve got politicians who go to church every Sunday morning and then walk into that capitol, stand under that gold dome, and come up with the dumbest legislation you can ever imagine,” Warnock said of the bipartisan bill at the time. “Think about all the crazy people you bump into just on the routine, every week. On your job, on the street, some of them in church. … Imagine all them people with guns.”

“No, it’s not a ‘Stand Your Ground’ law,” Warnock added. “It’s a shoot-first law. Shoot first, ask questions later.”

The laws allow gun owners to utilize deadly force to protect themselves without first being obligated to retreat if they are in genuine fear for their lives.

During his campaign last year, Warnock — who defeated incumbent GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler — was endorsed by top anti-gun groups and has spoken up for anti-gun organizations.

In April 2013, he teamed up with then-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” coalition to push for universal FBI background checks. Months later, he took part in a voluntary gun buyback in Atlanta, reportedly criticizing publicly people who showed up to the event to purchase guns others were turning in.

In a 2015 interview with the left-wing outlet “Democracy Now” Warnock quoted King in stumping for additional gun control following the Charleston church shooting by white supremacist Dylann Roof.

He has also accused Americans who oppose additional gun control as being bought-and-paid-for as well as immoral.
