Flashbacks of CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin when virtual meeting stings ‘buck naked’ Canadian lawmaker

A member of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party accidentally pulled a Jeffrey Toobin this Wednesday — kind of.

Unlike Toobin, who became an international laughing stock last year after he accidentally began masturbating while on a Zoom call with his colleagues, Will Amos, a member of the Canadian Parliament, wasn’t caught stroking his pen.

However, he was caught on video camera buck naked — kind of.

Thanks to the kind of luck that usually only befalls legends like fictional spy Austin Powers, Amos’s junk wound up being covered up by his mobile phone.

But it was all an accident, you see.

According to Amos, while his colleagues were participating in a hybrid parliamentary session on Wednesday (some members were present in-person, while others were present virtually), his video camera “accidentally” turned on as he was in the process of changing clothes.

The video wound up being broadcast to a feed that “only MPs and House of Commons staff can see,” according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Someone who saw the feed reportedly then snapped a screenshot and funneled it to the press, and the rest is history.

“This was an unfortunate error. My video was accidentally turned on as I was changing into my work clothes after going for a jog. I sincerely apologize to my colleagues in the House of Commons for this unintentional distraction. Obviously, it was an honest mistake and it won’t happen again,” Amos reportedly said in a statement.

Luckily for him, his colleagues opted to forgive him, though not without first reprimanding him for being so careless, but also praising him for being an apparent hottie. The reprimanding reportedly occurred during the aforementioned parliamentary hearing.

“Mr. Speaker, as you know, since the beginning of the pandemic we have tried to emphasize the importance of respecting decorum and the dress code here in the House. I think that today we have set a new record,” MP Claude DeBellefeuille, a woman, said in French during a point of order.

She continued, “We’ve seen a member during question period improperly dressed — that is, unclothed. So perhaps remind the members, especially the male members, that suits and ties are appropriate, or rather called for, and we have seen that the member was in very good shape, but I think that this member should be reminded of what is appropriate and to control his camera.”

Speaker of the House Anthony Rota agreed, reportedly replying that while he didn’t see the video for himself, his assistants did see “something.”

“I would therefore like to remind members to always be vigilant when they are near a camera and a microphone,” he reportedly added.

Over on Twitter meanwhile, Amos has been fiercely defended, with critics urging him to press charges against whoever leaked the screenshot.

There was one critic, though, who drew attention to how Amos’s own party recently shut down a probe into sexual misconduct in the Canadian Forces.

There had been a probe into “allegations of sexual misconduct against former chief of the defence staff, Gen. Jonathan Vance, and what Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau knew of them in 2018,” the National Post reported Tuesday.

But that probe was shuttered this week.

“This week, Liberal and Bloc Quebecois MPs teamed up to vote to shut down the committee, under howls of protest by the Tories and the NDP. The Liberals say that the 25 hours of testimony already heard by the committee is sufficient; the opposition counters that there were key witnesses the committee had yet to hear from,” according to the Post.
