What was she thinking? Kamala’s ‘brighter days’ photo sends all the wrong signals

The Biden administration relies heavily on symbolism and virtue signaling, which works out well for Vice President Kamala Harris, who would otherwise find herself approaching her role with a serious talent deficit.

Harris shared a photo of herself looking hopefully out the window of Air Force Two, along with the caption, “Brighter days are ahead.”

The vice president shares no other context, though viewers can’t help but notice that our hero is wearing a mask. Keep in mind that not only was Harris sitting alone, but that she received a COVID-19 vaccination on Dec. 28, 2020. On live television.

With Border Patrol overwhelmed by a humanitarian crisis brought on by the policies ushered in by the Biden administration, they could certainly do with better days. The agency has somewhere around 20,000 unaccompanied migrant children on its hands, and the number is growing daily.

Given that President Biden appointed Harris as his point person on the border, giving her full reign to act as needed, could it be that she’s flying to the overrun border?

That’s a question more than one social media user inquired about in responding to the tweeted photo:

It has been nearly three weeks since Biden appointed Harris, and she has yet to visit the border or even hold a news conference on the exploding crisis.

Newt Gingrich appeared Monday on “Fox & Friends” to say Harris was put in charge on the border because the Biden White House knew she would not do anything to fix the problem.

“This is not a mistake, this is why they refuse to call it a crisis,” he said. “They want the border to be open. Go back and look at the presidential primary debates. They are all in favor of open borders. They are all in favor of eliminating ICE. They are all in favor of eliminating any threat to sanctuary cities.

So from their perspective, the next ten or fifteen thousand people are good because it further increases the number of illegal immigrants in the United States, which is what they want,” Gingrich charged.

Looking at the state of the southern border, it’s hard to argue against this take.

Speaking to Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,”
Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich appeared Sunday on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” to urge Vice President Harris to come visit the border — Brnovich first invited her on April 2.

“Well, I think it’s important for federal officials to actually come to the states to see and hear and feel what’s actually happening on the ground,” he said.

Naturally, he has heard nothing back. And the media is largely giving Harris a break, not pressing much on the matter.

Social media is a whole other matter… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
