‘Please don’t cry’: Ted Cruz obliterates John Boehner as only he can

On Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) quipped that he wears former House Speaker John Boehner’s “drunken, bloviated scorn” with pride after Boehner spoke of beating him up in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning.

“The Swamp is unhappy,” Cruz mockingly tweeted. Boehner once again called Cruz a “jerk” and then went on to accuse him of “making a lot of noise” while not producing much. That was after he called Cruz and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) “political terrorists.” He took a slap at Jordan: “I just never saw a guy who spent more time tearing things apart and never building anything, never putting anything together.”

“I wear with pride his drunken, bloviated scorn. Please don’t cry,” Cruz snarked in reference to Boehner’s penchant for tearing up.

Boehner took a virtual swing at Cruz during the interview, claiming that he doesn’t like to “beat anyone up” but he’d make an exception when it comes to Cruz.

“Perfect symbol, you know, of getting elected, making a lot of noise, draw a lot of attention to yourself, raise a lot of money, which means you’re gonna go make more noise, raise more money,” Boehner said, knocking Cruz as he’s done in the past over and over again.

Boehner is from Ohio and was the House speaker from 2011 to 2015. He’s been making the media rounds hawking his new book: “On The House: A Washington Memoir.” The book is set to be released next week.

The former speaker routinely attacks Cruz. The latest incident occurred while he was recording the audio for his new book when he made a show of telling Cruz to “f—” himself.

Boehner tweeted out a picture of himself with a glass of wine in hand while recording the memoir and disingenuously wrote, “Poured myself a glass of something nice to read my audiobook. You can blame the wine for the expletives.”

On the cover of his new book, Boehner writes in reference to Senator Cruz: “There is nothing more dangerous than a reckless a**hole who thinks he is smarter than everyone else.”

Cruz revels in poking fun at Boehner and did so concerning his audio smear at CPAC in February, declaring, “You know yesterday, John Boehner made some news. He suggested that I do something that was anatomically impossible. To which my response was, ‘Who’s John Boehner?'”

Boehner also accused former President Trump in his book of “inciting that bloody insurrection” for his own “selfish” political reasons. He proclaimed that the Republican Party has been taken over by “whack jobs.” But many Republicans point to Boehner as the epitome of the Swamp and note that he seems to enjoy imbibing far too much.

Boehner does not get along with a number of Republicans and high-profile conservatives. Notably, Fox News host Sean Hannity thinks very poorly of the former speaker. “There was not a single time I was around him when he didn’t just reek of cigarette smoke and wine breath,” Hannity stated. He called Boehner “one of the worst Republican Speakers in history,” as well as “weak” and “timid.” He also referred to Boehner’s lobbying for the cannabis industry.

Boehner wrote in Politico Magazine: “We used to have a good relationship. But then he decided he felt like busting my ass every night on his show. So one day, in January of 2015, I finally called him and asked: ‘What the hell?’ I wanted to know why he kept bashing House Republicans when we were actually trying to stand up to Obama.”

Conservatives on Twitter tore into Boehner over his latest attacks:
