Gov. Abbott says Biden presiding over migrant children being ‘starved, sexually abused’ at ‘nightmare’ facilities

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is calling out the Biden administration’s open-borders policies after allegations of child sexual assault at a San Antonio migrant detention facility emerged.

“This facility is a health and safety nightmare,” Abbott declared in a press conference outside the Freeman Expo Center, the overcrowded location in question, where reportedly about 1,400 unaccompanied minors are currently being held.

“The Biden administration is now presiding over the abuse of children. To end this abuse, the Biden administration must immediately shut down this facility,” he insisted.

In the meantime, Abbott is ordering the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers to conduct an urgent investigation. “The Biden administration caused this crisis and has repeatedly failed to address it,” the governor reaffirmed.

In his remarks, Abbott claimed that two state agencies — the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services — received tips about purported chaotic and dangerous conditions at the center, including allegations of child abuse and neglect.

“These problems are a byproduct of President Biden’s open-border policies,” the GOP governor asserted, “and the lack of planning for the fallout from those disastrous policies.”

The adage elections have consequences is, unfortunately, being played out at the border.

Upon taking office, the Biden Democrat administration was quick to reverse former President Trump’s orderly border enforcement polices and reinstituted catch and release as well as halting construction of the border wall (although there are some rumors that the latter project could be restarted). Biden also abandoned the effective Remain in Mexico program for asylum seekers. The ensuing chaos resulted.

Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of the illegal immigration surge, but she has yet to show up at the border to personally inspect what’s going on.

In addition to sexual assault accusations, the facility, according to Abbot, is understaffed and thus, the migrant children lack sufficient supervision.

“Some children in this facility are not eating throughout the day, and…children with COVID are not being physically separated from children without COVID,” Abbott added.

Abbott is demanding immediate action from Biden: “The children who are in this facility should be moved to other federally run facilities, where the federal government has the space, personnel, and resources to insure their safety.”

In March 2021 alone, 170,000 illegal aliens were reportedly detained when trying to cross the border into the U.S. Under current Biden policy, most will be eventually released into the U.S

The humanitarian and law enforcement crisis at the border is one that the Biden administration created,  Abbott noted. “The administration failed to plan for the influx of children that they invited to come. Now they face allegations of despicable child abuse and neglect.”

This is not the first time in this scenario when Abbott took on a job that the feds are supposed to be doing. Last month, he deployed the National Guard and state troopers to help restore order in so-called high-threat areas at the southern border to prevent drug smuggling and human trafficking by cartels or other wrongdoers in an initiative called Operation Lone Star.
