Mollie Hemingway: Biden declared ‘economic warfare’ on state of Ga., he’s not the unifier he claimed

Fox News commentator, and author at “The Federalist,” Mollie Hemingway ripped into President Biden for declaring “economic warfare” on Georgia in regards to his attack against a new voter integrity law just passed in the state.

Hemingway delved into the fact that the so-called infrastructure bill is not what it seems at all. She noted that the plan actually funds things at the state and local levels that have already been funded and have almost nothing to do with infrastructure. She called the amount of money being spent “mind-bogglingly” big. Hemingway pointed out that once things go through in this proffered bill, Democrats will have to raise taxes to fund their spending and they have not told Americans the truth about what will happen.

She went on to speak about the dishonesty of the Democrats and the falsehoods surrounding the voting bill: “We had for the first time in history a sitting president of the United States declare economic warfare against a state because they passed a bill, lawfully and dutifully, that he disagreed with because it would make it slightly more difficult to have fraudulent voting.”

Hemingway said that having corporations punish a state and its citizens who live there because of a voter integrity law is completely inappropriate. Companies are allegedly being bullied by the media and the left to do these things and it is destroying the entire country. She said “this is really a not-unifying situation for the country.”

Hemingway also wrote at “The Federalist” that a “United States President has, for the first time in American history, called for an economic boycott and economic sanctions of a member state over dutifully and legally passed legislation…” She has previously nailed Democrats and the media on Twitter over the issue of voter ID as well.

“This law, like so many others being pursued by Republicans in statehouses across the country, is a blatant attack on the Constitution and good conscience,” Biden previously stated. “This is Jim Crow in the 21st century. It must end. We have a moral and constitutional obligation to act,” he proclaimed.

On Monday, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy cornered White House press secretary Jen Psaki and asked her about Biden’s inaccurate remarks on Georgia’s voting law, including his ESPN interview where he supported boycotting Atlanta.

“Is the president going to change the way that he talks about the new Georgia voting law? Because in that interview you referenced, he said the law would end voting at five o’clock when working people are just getting off and he said it would end voting hours early so working people can’t cast their vote after their shift is over — but the Washington Post gave that clam ‘four Pinocchios’ because that part of the law gives counties the option to extend voting hours,” Doocy queried Psaki.

Psaki stated that “fundamentally, the president doesn’t believe it should be made harder to vote, he believes it should be easier.”

“And this bill makes it harder to request and return an absentee ballot, it collapses the length of Georgia’s runoff election, making it harder for large jurisdictions to offer early voting. It imposes rigid new restrictions on local officials’ ability to set polling hours to suit the needs of voters in their county,” Psaki claimed. “Those are all pieces of the bill. So his view is that we need to make it easier and not harder to vote, and that will continue to be what he advocates for.”

Even former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie accused Biden of dishonesty on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday concerning the Georgia voting law. He accused the president of breaking “his own rule” and “lying to the American people.” Christie is a member of the board of directors of the New York Mets and he let host George Stephanopoulos know just how he felt about the MLB’s decision to move the All-Star Game from Atlanta to another venue because of their new voting law.

“Joe Biden’s broke his own rule,” Christie stated. “Now, he’s lying to the American people, George. He’s lying about this bill. He’s lying to the American people about it to cause the raging fire he said he was going to put out. I’m very disappointed.”

“Listen, here’s what Joe Biden’s got to live with when he wakes up this morning on Easter morning: he is doing exactly what he sat around in the campaign and the transition and accused Donald Trump of doing,” Christie remarked.

“He is lying to cause racial divisions in this country. That’s what he accused Donald Trump of doing and he’s a liar and a hypocrite this morning,” the former governor declared.
