Megyn Kelly unloads: ‘Twitter & Facebook should be utterly embarrassed to have run cover for Hunter’

Former Fox News personality and independent journalist Megyn Kelly ripped into social media giants Facebook and Twitter for “running cover” for Hunter Biden and his laptop scandal after he sat down for an interview with CBS News.

Biden spoke with host Tracy Smith in a sit-down that was aired on Sunday where he claimed that he had “no idea” whether the alleged laptop in question was his or not. That laptop was left at a repair shop and was eventually turned over to the FBI. It allegedly contains emails to business associates that are compromising as well as scandalous personal information. Hunter Biden has never explicitly denied that the laptop is his.

“This has every single classic indicator of deception. Twitter & Facebook should be utterly embarrassed to have run cover for this guy,” Kelly tweeted out on Sunday.

During the interview back and forth, Biden stated that the laptop “could be” his, could have been stolen, could have been hacked, or could have been Russian intelligence. He pretty much covered all the bases in one sentence, deflecting from directly answering if the laptop was his or not.

“For real, I don’t know. I really don’t know what the answer is. That’s the truthful answer,” Biden stated to Smith. “Of course, certainly [it could have been my laptop]. There could be a laptop out there that was stolen from me. It could be I was hacked. It could be that it was Russian intelligence.”

Just weeks before the 2020 presidential election, both Facebook and Twitter squelched a story that was broken by The New York Post on Hunter Biden’s laptop. Facebook stated that they needed to verify the story before letting it roam free on their platform. They wanted to fact-check the claims made against Biden. Twitter blocked the story entirely proclaiming it violated their policy against publishing hacked materials. Later, Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey would attempt to walk that back and claimed the move was “wrong.”

What Hunter Biden did acknowledge in the interview was that there was an ongoing Department of Justice investigation involving his taxes. He was vague on details but stated that he would be cleared of any alleged wrongdoing.

“I can say this. I am cooperating completely, and I am absolutely certain, 100 percent certain, that at the end of the investigation, that I will be cleared of any wrongdoing,” Biden declared. “I am 100  percent certain of it and all I can do is cooperate and trust in the process.” This comes after the revelation in December that his tax affairs were being investigated by the DOJ in connection with his business dealings with Ukraine and China.

“I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs,” Biden reported in a statement. “I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.”

Megyn Kelly was not alone in lambasting Hunter Biden and Big Tech over the laptop in question.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald went after Biden Sunday on Fox’s MediaBuzz: “We should be revisiting it regardless because the real story was not just what those documents showed about Biden and China and Ukraine, but also the abuse of power by Facebook and the Democrats to censor a major story right before an election. It was incredible interference and manipulation from the right to vote and the right to be heard.”

“Pretending that the Biden laptop story was about sex or drugs is utterly deceitful. A person’s addiction struggles [and] consensual adult sex is not news. The story was (and is) about financial corruption. And there’s *zero* doubt the docs were authentic,” Greenwald also said on Twitter.

“Hunter Biden HID from the media when it mattered most so who the heck wants to hear from him now?” former congressional candidate Lavern Spicer stated.

The “CBS Sunday Morning” interview was aired just ahead of Tuesday’s release of Biden’s memoir “Beautiful Things.”
