White House press secretary Jen Psaki appears to be everything that the media had accused Trump era press secretary Kayleigh McEnany of being, namely dishonest.

During a press briefing Thursday, Edward Lawrence of Fox Business Network tried to actually hold President Joe Biden accountable by asking Psaki whether a correction would be issued over a blatant lie he’d told a day earlier.

In an ESPN interview, Biden had smeared the Republican-led state of Georgia by accusing its new voting law of closing polling places at 5:00 pm to prevent “working folks and ordinary folks that I grew up with from being able to vote.”

The claim was a complete lie — one debunked by The Washington Post, which reported in a fact-check that Election Day poll hours “were not changed.” However, early voting hours were changed — for the better — with an option being added for counties to extend their own early voting times by as much as two hours.

“Under the new law, counties have the option to extend the voting hours so voters can start casting ballots as early as 7 a.m. and as late as 7 p.m.,” according to the Post.

Responding to Lawrence’s question on Thursday, Psaki proceeded to ignore the fact-check and instead double down on the Democrat president’s dishonesty.

“It standardizes the ending of voting every day at five, right? It just gives options? It gives options to expand it — right? — but it standardized it at five. It also makes it so that outside groups can’t provide water or food to people in line. Right? It makes it more difficult to absentee vote. Are those things all correct?” she asked.

Regarding food and water, the new law specifically states that voters may still collect water from self-service stations. What’s not allowed is for people to “solicit” voters via “gifts” such as food/water.

And regarding absentee votes, the new law simply requires that those voting by mail prove their identification by showing a voter ID.

A poll conducted by the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs this January on behalf of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution found that a 74 percent majority of Georgia residents “support requiring voters to include a copy of their photo ID or other documentation in order to cast an absentee ballot by mail.”

Broken down by demographics, even 63 percent of black voters and 55 percent of Democrats supported the measure:

Responding to Psaki’s answer, Lawrence tried to fact-check her on the spot and also ask whether the administration — which had pledged “unity” months ago — planned to change its anti-Republican tone anytime soon.

“The voting on the day of is seven to seven, and early voting — it can standardize adding Saturday and Sunday. So my question is: Is the tone going to change out of the White House?” he said to the White House press secretary.

“The tone for a bill that limits voting access and makes it more difficult for people to engage in voting in Georgia?” Psaki sarcastically replied.

“No, that’s actually not what the governor of Georgia has said,” Lawrence said.

“Well, I think that is not based in fact what the governor of Georgia has said, so, no, our tone is not changing. We have concerns about the specific components of the package, including the fact that it makes it harder and more difficult for people to vote by limiting absentee options; by making it not viable, not possible for people to provide water to people who are in line; by not standardizing longer hours,” Psaki replied.

She added, “So, if you’re making it harder to vote, no, we don’t support that.”

In other words, the administration intends to keep lying and portraying the new law as the revival of Jim Crow — or “Jim Eagle,” as Biden himself recently put it.

(FYI, these days ANYTHING Democrats dislike is Jim Crow.)

But again, it’s all a lie — one easily debunked by simply turning the spotlight to the many Democrat-led states that boast the exact same requirements.

Writing for The Wall Street Journal last week, Karl Rove noted that New Jersey “requires a driver’s license number or the last four digits of a Social Security number for online voter registration,” Virginia “requires both a photo ID card and your Social Security number” and even California — the most liberal state in the country — “requires ID to register.”

“Where are the bitter denunciations of these state’s racist (Democratic) governors and legislatures?” Rove wondered.

Speaking of which, according to the Post, in Biden’s own home state of Delaware, in-person early voting of any kind wasn’t even allowed last year …
